Yesterday (24 january 2015) became a dot day for the blog. This normally happens when for some reason I am unable to find time for blogging. In case I am forewarned in advance then I take measures to ensure that at least some posts are made on those days. But sometimes thing happen unexpectedly and that makes all plans go haywire.
Early morning at 5 AM on 24 january 2015, I got the information that I had to urgently leave to a place for official exigencies. Under such circumstances, one has to reach an appointed place within half an hour and leave by a special train from there, which does not wait for anyone. So I ungently got ready and took out the car. My dogs thought that I was taking them for a morning walk by car. They tried to jump in but I prevented them from doing so. They came out of the fence as I was taking out the car. I hoped that they would go back within the fence after some time through numerous breaches familiar to them. But after I drove a kilometer or so, I realised that some dogs were barking furiously. On looking at the rear window, I realised that Chhote and Bhhole were giving me hot pursuit by running behind the car and street dogs were barking at them. I stopped the car and tried to get the two of them to jump into the car. But both Chhote and Bhhole were in a mood for some barking contest with the street dogs. With great difficulty, I managed to bundle them inside the car. I returned back and pushed them back inside the fence through the door and then left again, hoping that they would not come behind me again after coming out through some other breach. Fortunately then did not do that. I left my car at the place where the train was waiting and boarded that.
I stayed out the entire day and also for much of the next day (viz today 25 january 2015). So my cherished new year resolution of posting one YIPPEE song every day had finally been broken. I can take solace from the realisation that it did not happen because of any weakening of my resolve, but because of unexpected exigencies.
What has happened has happened. I have arrived back by about 4 PM. Now let me try and make sure that some posts (including a YIPPEE post) is posted today.
Here is a song from “Village Girl” (1945). This song is sung by Noorjahaan and it is picturised on her as well. Wali Sahab is the lyricist. Shyam Sundar is the music director.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
This is the eleventh song of the movie and the penultimate of the 12 songs mentioned in HFGK. So this is not the YIPPEE song for the day. Can we coin a term like semi YIPPEE song for the penultimate songs of movies. 🙂 I have some other YIPPEE songs available for discussion today too.
Song-Sajan pardesi balam pardesi (Village Girl)(1945) Lyrics- Noorjahaan, Lyrics-Wali Sahab, MD-Shyam Sundar
Lyrics (Provided by Nitin Shah)
sajan pardesi
balam pardesi
ho o
man ko sataaye
jalaaye
jalan na jaane raam
sajan pardesi
balam pardesi
ho o
man ko sataaye
jalaaye
jalan na jaanoon raam
kar ke dil ko apne bas mein
kar ke dil ko apne bas mein
tod gaye sab apni qasmein
tod gaye sab apni qasmein
baithhi hoon aas lagaaye
chain na aaye
sataaye
jalan na jaanoon raam
sajan pardesi
balam pardesi
ho o
man ko sataaye
jalaaye
jalan na jaanoon raam
jee bhar ke na unse kheli
jee bhar ke na unse kheli
chhod gaye ae
chhod gaye
chhod gaye wo mujhe akeli
chhod gaye wo mujhe akeli
keh na gaye kuchh haaye
chain na aaye
sataaye
jalan na jaanoon raam
sajan pardesi
balam pardesi
ho o
man ko sataaye
jalaaye
jalan na jaanoon raam…
bhar bhar aayen aansoon apne
bhar bhar aayen aansoon apne
ho gaye mushqil aankh mein rakhne
ho gaye mushqil aankh mein rakhne
dard hamen tadpaaye
chain na aaye
sataaye
jalan na jaanoon raam
sajan pardesi
balam pardesi
ho o
man ko sataaye
jalaaye
jalan na jaane raam
