Bring up and test this, works every time. Looking for a good melodious song that will strum the strings of the heart – just pick an obscure film from 1950s or 60s. If the lyricist and music director and the singer(s) are from the proverbial ‘lesser known’ category, all the better. Just run through the song list of such a film. I promise you will find a memory tickler hidden in there, which will make you exclaim – “achhaa, ye gaana is film ka hai” (“Aha, so this song comes from this film”). I have tried this many times; always been a success.
Take this film, and this song. I have wonderful humming memories of this song from the radio listening days. For all this time, I was unaware of the details. Searching for songs by Chitragupt, I ran into this a few days ago, and had that ‘Aa Haa’ reaction. Wow, so this is it.
Nothing gets more vintage Chitragupt than this one. The flowing melody which is a hallmark of his music, is all so pleasingly present here. Words to suit the meter (or the other way round) penned by Farooque Qaiser. The singing voice of Krishna Kalle. Back in 1965, this was a very fresh voice. All comes together to craft this wonderful memory from fifty years ago.
The film is ‘Saat Samundar Paar’. On screen we can see Dara Singh and Ameeta. Going by the storyline that this is a pirates film, the scenario, is a dance number in the pirate’s den. The motely crew is present, drinking and enjoying the music. Our he-man hero is also viewing the proceedings with interest. The dancer is, in turn, showing interest in him. And Ameeta, who appears to be the lady love, is jealously and zealously keeping a guard over her beau, keeping his glances and hands away from the enticing dancer.
Oh now, only if I could recognize the lead dancer. I request other friends and readers to please help identify the on screen performer of this really enchanting number. View, listen and enjoy.

I guess(going by credit sequences of the movie), the lead dancer who lip syncs for the song is KANCHANMALA( I may be wrong, its just a guess work that dancer is not lakshmichhaya,rani,jeevankala,madhumati, then it must be Kanchanmala)
