“Amar Kahaani”(1949) was produced by Rajendra Singh and directed by Brij Sharma for Kamal Kunj Chitra production. The movie had Suraiyya, Rajnana, P Jairaj, Jagdish Mehta, Raj Mehra, Sapru, Ajit etc.
The same movie was re re-released in 1955 with a new name, viz “Kanchan”(1955). Everything, including all the songs, remained the same. Even the fate of this re released move remained the same as the originally released movie, viz the movie sank without trace. The print of this movie is not available, but the nine songs of the movie are available. Some “knowledgeable” enthusiasts count the songs of the two two movies as different songs whereas in reality there is no difference. These nine songs were recorded only once, viz during the release of “Amar Kahaani”(1949). Since “Kanchan” (1955) was nothing but “Amar Kahaani”(1949) with a new name, everything, including the songs there remained the same.
In this blog, I tended to post the same song twice, once for “Amar Kahaani” and then again for “Kanchan”. Then I became aware of the history behind the two movies, so now this blog only has one instance of the song and not two instances.
Here is the eighth song from “Amar Kahaani”(1949)/ “Kanchan”(1955). The song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
Only the audio of this song is available. Going by the story of this movie (provided by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia, in his comments during an earlier song of the movie), it appears that this song was picturised on Nirmala.
I have not been able to get some words in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrects words wherever applicable.
Song-Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili (Amar Kahaani)(1949) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics- Rajinder Krishan, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram
Lyrics
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
shabnam ke sang jhoola jhooli
aur mast pawan ke saath pali ee ee ee
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
bachpan ka zamaana beet gaya
joban ki suhaani rut aayi ee ee
aur apne man hi man mein wo
kuchh muskaayi kuchh sharmaayi
itne mein kahin se ik bhanwra
kuchh gun gun karta aa pahunchaa
aankhon aankhon mein baat hui
isne dekha usne dekha
naadaan kali kuchh ??
?? mein sab kuchh bhool gayi ee ee
aur tod ke naata bagiya se
bhanwre ka daaman thhaam chali
donon ne basa li ik duniya
armaanon ki aashaaon ki
ik duniya mast taraanon ki
ik duniya thhandi chhaaon ki
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
Chhoti si ik bagiya mein khili
nanhi munni si ek kali ee ee ee
hanste hanse kuchh din guzre
phir kali ne ik sapna dekha aa
ik chaand ka tukda aangan mein
aakash se toot ke aan gira
us chaand ke tukde se duniyaa
un donon ki aabaad huyi
lekin ye khushi do din ki thhi
do din guzre barbaad huyi
bhanwre ne kali ko thhukraaya aa
aur aankh chura kar chala gaya aa aa
?? hai duniya ki
koi na kisi ka meet hua aa
bhanwre se shiqaayat kaun kare ae
jab kismat ne munh mod liya aa
ik phool khilaaya khushiyon ka
aur apne aap ?? tod liya
kyun diye mujhe aansoo gham ke ae
duniya ko hansaane waale ne
kyun tod liya hai phool mera
us phool khilaane waale ne
