“Baat Ek Raat Ki”(1962) was directed by Shankar Mukherji for Alankar Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman, Chandrashekhar, Johny Walker, Sabita Chatterji, Ulhas, Jagdish Sethi etc in it.
Seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. HFGK entry also mentions that this movie had seven songs in it and this movie was accordingly considered duly YIPPEED.
It turns out that this movie had an additional song in it. This fact was noticed by Aparna H M and it was confirmed by Khyati Bhatt that there was mention of this eighth song in the corrigendum of HFGK part IV. So one song from this movie still remained to be covered.
After this discovery, Avinash Scrapwala took it upon himself to send me the lyrics of this song.
So here is this eighth and final song from “Baat Ek Raat Ki”(1962). HFGK mentions Asha Bhonsle and Rafi as the singers. The female voice does not sound like Asha Bhonsle though. I have considered the female voice as an unidentified female voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the voice.
The song is picturised on Johny Walker, Sabita Chatterji and others.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

There is no controversy. It is Asha for sure. When she sings Darling tum jaao nahin to Mummy phir aa jaayega it is typically Asha albeit in low pitch. Later she sings bit differently as is her wont.

Film titles has Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Suman Kalyanpur as female playback singers. Voice seems to be of Suman Kalayanpur.

I also felt that it doesn’t sound like Ashaji. Sumanji is there in Na tum hamen jaano… Female version. Need a solid confirmation from our in blog stalwarts… 🙂

Almost all web sources including saregama, wikipedia, earthmusic, hindigeetmala and not to forget our stalwarts attribute the voice to Asha ji.
