Genius of Jaidev – 32

Songs of Jaidev from 1967 ‘Hamaare Gham Se Mat Khelo’ are covered as far as I am concerned. The films after that are mostly such that they were not successful at the box-office and hence their songs are mostly unheard and un-available. Thanks to some collectors (with good taste) who are there and the request to them for odd songs are graciously fulfilled.
1969 film ‘Jiyo Aur Jeene Do’ was Produced by Apsara Arts, Bambai and directed by B Mastaan. The film cast consisted of Tanuja, Shailesh Kumar, Jeevan, Helen, Mohan Choti, Chand Usmani, Uma Dutt, Kundan, Meenakshi, Sujata etc.
Hasrat Jaipuri and Naqsh Llayalpuri were the lyricist and the music was composed by Jaidev ji. This song is written by Naqsh Llayalpuri.
One song by Rafi Saheb has already been covered earlier on this blog and this one is the second from the six songs mentioned in HFGK. Hopefully I will be getting the remaining songs soon from my ever-helping well-wisher, to keep me busy for some time.
I completely agree with Atulbhai’s comment about compositions of Jaidev
It is a standard fate of Jaidev’s compositions that they are created in movies that end up as obscure movies. Fantastic compositions from Jaidev, are unfortunately ending up as unsung.
This song under discussion, has a very simple tune, (unlike Jaidev’s normal creations,) but has typical Jaidev style Hindustani instrumental orchestra to accompany Usha’s singing.

Excellent sir it appears that jaidevji utilized these notes in tu chanda main chandni…. in Reshma aur shera with slight modifications. By the way can you mention a duet of Lata and Rafi in jaidevji’s music 🎶 direction please.

There is ONLY ONE duet of Lata and Rafi, ever composed by Jaidev, as far as I know, and that is a Quwaali from 1976 film ‘Laila Majnu’. After the demise of Madan Mohan, Jaidev completed that film and added this 7:43 minute Quwaali.
