“Sohni Mahiwal” (1958) was a Chaudhary Art Production movie. It was directed by Raja Nawathe. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Nimmi, Kumar, Achla Sachdev, Mukri, Lotan, Chand Burque, Om Prakash etc in it.
Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from this movie. This song is sung by Rafi and Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.
The song is picturised on Bharat Bhushan and Nimmi who play the title roles. Seeing that Sohni Mahiwal is a tragic love story, I would say that Bharat Bhushan and Nimmi were perfect choices for playing these roles. Do not be misled by the fact that they are shown smiling in the picturisation. Normal service resumes for them in the movie soon enough 🙂
