Today (9 june 2016) happens to be the 26th death anniversary of Asad Bhopali (10 july 1921- 9 june 1990 ). The acronym of this blog ( Atul song a day) also reads ASAD. That way, many of us in this blog regard Asad Bhopali as the patron saint lyricist of this blog. 🙂
That being the case, how can we in this blog miss honouring our patron lyricist. So here is a song from “Ek Sapera Ek Lutera”(1965). Six songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. The song, which is described as a two part song, is the seventh and final song from the movie to appear in the blog. The song, sung by Manna Dey, Usha Khanna and chorus begins as a qawwaali between the two genders. Towards the end, the song suddenly gets transformed into a Krish bhajan (and it is this portion that HFGK describes as the second part of the song).
Asad Bhopali is the lyricist of this song, of course. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.
Only the audio of this lively song appears to be available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
With this song,”Ek Sapera Ek Lutera”(1965) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Haha, ASAD Bhopali as patron saint, sorry, lyricist! 🙂 Love these Atulisms. 🙂 I quite like his lyrics – I first heard of him on AIR as lyricist for “ajnabi tum jaane pehchaane se lagte ho”. 🙂

All songs were great hit except perhaps this song. That was the golden period for her and for us.
