The words of the song may make people to feel that the song under discussion is the famous Talat Mehmood song Shaam e gham ki kasamsong from “Footpath”(1953). But no, this song is different. The Talat Mehmood song has already been discussed in the blog more than seven years ago. The song under discussion is from a movie called “Dil Ki Duniya”(1949) which predates the Talat Mehmood song by four years.
“Dil Ki Duniya”(1949) was directed by Mazhar Khan for Noble Art Production, Bombay. The movie had Munnawwar Sultana, Mazhar Khan, Geeta Bali, Shrimati Suman, Jaswant, Madan Puri, Suraiyya Chaudhary, Aghajaan, Rajpal, Raj adeeb, Robi, Abu Bakar etc in it.
This song, the second from the movie to appear in the blog, is sung by Rajkumari. Zia Sarhadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govindram.
Only the audio of this melancholic song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections wherever applicable in the lyrics.

Lyrics
shaam e gham ki qasam
shaam e gham ki qasam
tu na aaya to ham
yaad karte huye
tujh ko mar jaayenge
jo meri jaan hai
mera armaan hai
jo meri jaan hai
mera armaan hai
gair ka ghar ka wo aaj mehmaan hai
kya khabar thhi ke wo hamko tarsaayenge
tarsaayenge
kya khabar thhi ke wo hamko tarsaayenge
shaam e gham ki qasam
tu na aaya to ham
yaad karte huye
khud ko mar jaayenge
haaye re bebasi
haaye dil ki lagi
haaye re bebasi
haaye dil ki lagi
aansuon se bhi ye aag bujh na saki
aansuon se bhi ye aag bujh na saki
dil ko socha thha
ro ro ke bahlaayenge
bahlaayenge
ko socha thha
ro ro ke bahlaayenge
shaam e gham ki qasam
tu na aaya to ham
yaad karte huye
tujh ko mar jaayenge
