“Paalki” (1967) is a Poonam Pictures presentation. It was directed by Mahesh Kaul and S U Sunny. The movie had Rajendra Kumar,Waheeda Rehman,Rehman, Johnny Walker, Murad, Rashid Khan, Nazir Hussain, Manmohan Krishna, Minoo Mumtaz, Pratima Devi etc in it.
Nine songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the tenth and final song from this movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Rafi. This song is picturised on Rajendra Kumar as a stage song and it salutes the city of Lucknow. That way, this song is reminiscent of the song Ye Lucknow ki sarzameen from “Chaudhvin Ka Chaand”(1960) which was another ode to the city of Lucknow.
Like the “Chaudhvin Ka Chaand”(1960) song, this song is a movie opening song. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist of this song as well.
“Chaudhvin Ka Chaand”(1960) had music by Ravi whereas this movie “Paalki”(1967) had music by Naushad.
Today (7 july 2016) is the festival of Eid. So I extend my heartiest greetings to all on this occasion.
With this song, “Paalki”(1967) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
