“Panchaayat” (1958) was directed by Lekhraj Bhakhri for Tasveeristan productions. The movie had Raj Kumar, Jabeen Jaleel, Shyama, Pandhari Bai, Sundar, Manoj Kumar, Kuldip Kaur, Kanhaiyalal, Nazir Hussain, Leela Misra, Daisy Irani etc in it.

Eight songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. The eighth song was discussed as far back as in 2013.

I was not aware about the total number of songs in this movie. Now, thanks to access to HFGK since then, now I can notice that this movie had ten songs in it. I also notice an interesting fact from the perusal of the HFGK is that as many as four songs of this movie were there only the the movie and their records were not made. One of these songs was “Main yah soch kar uske dar se uthha thha”. This line will surely ring bells in the ears of music lovers and they will point out that this is a song from “Haqeeqat”(1964). Well, HFGK tells us that this song, which is penned by Kaifi azmi was originally included in “Panchaayat”(1958). So, it is an interesting piece of tidbit that this “Haqeeqat” song is a composition of Iqbal Qureshy.

This song, Main ye soch kar uske dar se uthaa thaa (Haqeeqat) has already been discussed in the blog. So unknowingly, this song, originally part of “Panchaayat” (1958) is already covered.

So, with nine out of ten songs already covered in the blog, only one song from “Panchaayat”(1958) remains to be covered.

This tenth and final song is quite a revelation, or many be quite a mystery.

This song is a comedy song which is lip synced by Sundar in praise of his wife played by Manorama. Sundar lip syncs this song while Manoj Kumar ( a newcomer of Hindi movies at that time) plays harmonium. another lanky person, playing the son of Sundar and Manorama, is also visible in the picturisation. I am unable to identify him. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify him.

The biggest mystery in this song is the identity of the singer. The singer has sung this song with gusto. His voice is like that of Asrani, but then Asrani would not appear in Hindi movies for another decade or so. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify this unknown singer.

Shakeel Numani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Iqbal Qureshy, who was making his debut as a music director with this movie.

With this song, the tenth and final song of the movie, “Panchaayat”(1958) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
