There are many movies which come and disappear becoming forgotten over time. It is such movies that take time to make their debuts on our blog. This movie “Kaun Hai Woh?” (1983) is one such movie. Its songs are not available on YouTube. Its artists are no longer in the limelight and the movies songs lie in the dust with some collectors.
The song which I have chosen featured in the movie LP both as a song as well as an instrumental version. Before talking about the song, Lets talk a little bit about the movie.
The movie was released in 1983 and as one can tell the name it centered around a murder. See the way the name is written in the poster below
It was produced by S L Films. See the way the dagger is passing through Hai with blood in it.
As you must have made out from the poster, the movie starred, then heartthrobs, Raj Kiran and Madhavi. The other members of the cast were Mazhar Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Raza Muraad, Brahmchari, Laxmi Chhaya, Anu Dhawan, Beena Shyam, Dev Malhotra, Nayan Bhatt, Ritu Raj, Babli, Manek Irani, Tulsi and Bhagwan. The producers were Chandan Lalwani, Mrs Meera M Gihaani.
The composer of the movie is Kamal Kant and lyrics for the movie were written by Asad Bhopali and Jalal Janasvi.
The song being presented here must have been written by one of them (exact credit is not sure). It could have been a “youth anthem” in its time thanks to its lovely disco beat and the youth philosophy it portrays well. I got the song many years back from Sangeet ji on Hamaraforums and fell in love with its foot tapping nature.
The singers are an uncommon trio, Suresh Wadkar joins forces with Alka Yagnik and Anuradha Paudhwal to give pizzaz to this lovely dance number.
Someone told me that it was picturised on Raza Muraad but I have not come across the video of the song yet.
It would be futile to describe the philosophy of this “disco aarti”, as I call it when the song itself can do it perfectly.

Hope the other songs will end up on the blog and YouTube one day too. I have requested a friend who has the LP to share the songs.

Gajendra ji, thanks for introducing this song and the post. I do not remember having listened to this song or to have heard the movie’s name earlier or to have seen its poster in those years.
Even some of the movies of ‘eighties’ becoming obscure and their songs not available, I think, it will be more difficult to find the songs of movies of earlier decades not represented on the blog so far. ( aur us maamle mein hare note bhi kaam aanewaale nahin hain shaayad 🙂
