“Bansari”(1943) was directed by Jayant Desai for Ranjit Movietone, Bombay. This “social” movie had Ishwarlal, Shamim Bano, Charlie, Dixit, Urmila, Bhagwan Das, Keshri etc in it.
This by now obscure movie had nine obscure songs in it. Here is the first song from “Bansari”(1943) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Shamim Bano. Pt Indra Chandra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt.
Only the audio of this song is available. It is clear that the song was picturised on Shamim Bano herself.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I have not been able to get the lyrics right at quite a few places. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable.
