“Imtihaan”(1974) was directed by Madan Sinha for New Arts Pictures, Bombay. This movie had Tanuja, Vinod Khanna, Bindu, Ranjeet (special appearance), Abhi Bhattacharya, Asit Sen, Sapru, Murad, C S Dubey, Abhijit Sen, Shashtri, Amrit Patel, Sunayna Santosh, Uday Arora, Neel Oberoy, Sonika Khanna, Dewal Verma, Naveen Pandya, Vijay Kumar, Bhanwar Shrivastava, Ibrahim, Seema, Madhu, Jugnu, Durga, Ravi Kanwar, Sunil Rege, Ibrahim Khan, Geeta Shah, Shankar Bhake, Nasir, Farooque, Chanda, Kamal etc in it.
This movie had four songs in it. Two of its songs became quite popular during its time. These are the two songs from the movie that have already been covered during the early days of the blog in 2008.
Here is the third song from “Imtihaan”(1974) to appear in the blog. This song is an all female duet sung by Usha Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
The picturisation shows this song being lip synced by Bindu (in Usha Mangeshkar’s voice) and Tanuja (in Asha Bhonsle’s voice). They are both in love with the same man, viz Vinod Khanna and they are singing this song for his kind attention. 🙂 So this song is a song for “ek parwana do shama” situation. 🙂
Unlike the two well known songs of this movie, I had never heard this song before. But it must be said that this song has begun to grow up upon me.
