“Kaala Aadmi”(1960) was produced and directed by Ved-Madan for Natraj Productions, Bombay. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Shyama, Mehmood, Johny Walker, Sheila Vaz, Minu Mumtaz, Raj Mehra, Amar, Baij Sharma, Neelofar, Brahm Dutt, Rammohan etc in it.
The movie had six songs in it. Four of these songs have been discussed in the past.
That leaves two songs from the movie to be discussed. Both these songs are solo songs sung by a female singer and chorus and are performed as a club dance song. One songs begin with the phrase “Ankhiyaan milaa ke” and the other begins with “aankh milaa kar”.
Both these songs are nice hummable songs to listen to and I wondered which of these songs to discuss first and which song to be discussed as the final song from the movie.
I have decided to discuss the more “coventional” song first. This song is sung by Lata and chorus. The song is lip synced by Shyama and other female dancers while lots of people inc;luding Ashok Kumar, Johny Walker etc look on.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Dattaram and the music is similar to Shankar Jaikishan music (Dattaram was their assistant) and that is what makes this song a “conventional” song vis a vis the song that will be discussed next as the final song of this movie.
Though this song cannot be counted as a popular song nevertheless it is a nice hummable song to listen to.
