Genius of Jaidev – 59
——————————–

The 1986 film, ‘Trikon Ka Chotha Kon’, was produced and directed by Madhusudan. The main actors in the film were Vijayendra Ghatge, Swaroop Sampat and Priyadarshani, who formed the triangle of the story. The film had 3 songs, one each written by Mahadevi Varma, Shahryar and Maya Govind, and were set to music by Jaidev.  One of the songs, “Dil Dhadakne Ki Aawaaz Ki Khaamoshi“, a duet by Bhupinder and Peenaz Masani and penned by Shaharyar, and another solo “Kiya Piya Pe Kya Jaadoo“, by Chhaya Ganguli penned by Maya Govind are already showcased on this musical blog.

The film failed at the box office and with it, its three gems of songs both in terms of musical compositions and lyrical contents were completely forgotten.  The unlucky music director was none other than our genius Jaidev.

A beautiful song from the ’80s when the film-music, in general, was on a downhill, barring some songs here and there.  The humble Jaidev, one of the greatest composers, kept on creating beautiful compositions based on classical music till the very end of his career.

A lovely song, a melodious composition, sung so beautifully by Chhaya Ganguly, with subtle vocal curves and apt feelings.  Indeed, this is a rare gem, but of course, when the music is Jaidev’s, we expect only excellence.

Chhaya Ganguly rendered this song with complete justice to the words and melody. A rarely-heard song, this should be one of the examples for the current lot of film music directors, that such beautiful songs can be created even for a modern or contemporary settings in a film.

Jaidev ji had recorded this poetry of poetess Mahadevi Varma in Ashaji’s voice for a Non-Film Album. When he wanted to use it for this film, he wrote to the poetess for the permission for it.  Mahadevi ji graciously gave that permission, though she was known for not allowing her poems for any film music.

Song – Kaise Unko Paaun Aalee (Trikon Ka Chautha Kon) (1986) Singer – Chhaaya Gaanguli, Lyrics – Mahadevi Verma, MD – Jaidev

Lyrics

kaise unko paaun aali
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko paaun aali
kaise unko paaun

ve aansoo ban kar mere
ve aansoo
ve aansoo banker mere
is kaaran dhul dhul jaate
is kaaran dhul dhul jaate
in palkon ke
in palkon ke bandhan mein main
in palkon ke bandhan mein main
baandh baandh pachhataaun aali
baandh baandh pachhataaun aali
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko
kaise unko paaun aali
kaise unko paaun

ve taarak baalaaon ki
ve taarak baalaaon ki
apalak chitwan ban jaate
we taarak baalaaon ki
apalak chitwan ban jaate
jis mein unki chhaya bhi main
jis mein unki chhaya bhi main
chhoo na sakoon akulaaun aali
chhoo na sakoon akulaaun aali
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko paaun aali
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko paaun
kaise unko paaun aali
kaise unko paaun

Beautiful post !! Enjoyed this lovely composition.
Thanks for the post too!!
Since the movie had only three songs, this post marks the Yippeeee for this movie.

Congratulations Atul ji, Sudhir ji and Bharat Bhai on covering all songs of ” Trikon Ka Chautha Kon” and it’s joining to the ‘list of movies -all songs covered’ 🙂

Thnx Avinashji for appreciation.
I gave the wrong statement that the film had only three songs. In fact, Chhayaji gave me two more songs from the film which Hari Ichchhaa permitting I will submit in future. So no ‘Yippie’ yet.

Jaidevji, liked this poetry of Mahadevi-ji so much that prior to using in this film, he had made a devotional album with Asha-ji and had used this lyrics with different tune. The link for that is:
