Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Hoga tumse pyaara kaun

Posted on: November 25, 2008

1980 was the decade when I started losing track of bollywood movies and its songs. Gone was the meticulous record keeping of songs etc. Songs and movies in that decade passed like a blur before my eyes, without registering much in my brain.

“Hoga tumse pyaara kaun” was a song that registered in my brain. I have always liked this song, though I had only very sketcy information about this song. I vaguely remembered that this song was from “zamaame ko dikhaana hai”. Now that I have rediscovered this song again, and I decided to include this song in my blog that I have finally gathered the details about this song.

And I am so pleasantly surprised to know that it is a rail song. Padmini Kolhapure is travelling riding on the roof of the train, and Rishi Kapoor too joins her there. This song is sung on the roof of the train.

That way, it becomes the first rail song which is sung on the roof of the train. Later, “Mahaan” and “Dil Se” too would have such rail songs sung on the roof of the train.

And guess who is the music director. Yes, it is none other than R D Burman. He, as well as his dad were the numero uno, when it came to composing rail songs, as I found in the past, when I was gathering information about rail songs.

Lyrics are by Majrooh Sultanpuri and Shailendra Singh sings the song. Watching the video, I can see that the train looks like Ooty toy train, the same train which would also see a similar song “Chaaiyya chaiyya” being picturised 15 years later. Such rail songs always appeal to me, and I think that I should include more such rail songs in this blog.

I am sooooo happy you posted this song, Atul.

Of so many songs that came around that time, few stand out in my memory. And this is definitely one of them.

Very soft and pleasant to listen to. And what lovely scenery. You immediately feel like taking that train ride yourself. 🙂

thanx dude i love dis song

this one is my all time favourite song, once again for posting it,

nice song 🙂

can someone translate this song for me … very thanks in advanced

Nazir Hussain once (reportedly) told in an interview that I do not make songs so that audience can use the toilet. However, for most part of this movie audience not only used toilet but savored Samosa and Masala Dosa outside auditorium! The great expectation that Nazir Hussain’s previous movie “Hum Kisise Kum Nahi” created was also the reason of huge disappointment. “Hoga Tumse…” is a wonderful song, but we can clearly see that picturization is in a studio and not the train-top as the background scene is clearly artificial
