Blog Day : 3455 Post No. : 13858

On the first day of the year 2008, I mentioned that I was able to hold on to my previous year’s new year resolution for 40 days (introducing a debutant movie daily) and 125 days (YIPPYing a movie daily) respectively.

Our regulars, suitably inspired by my writeup, have taken it upon themselves to at least help me in introducing one debutant song daily in the year 2018. The very first song post covered in the year 2018 by Peevesie’s mom was a debutant movie viz “Kohraam” (1999). On the next day viz 2 january 2018, a song from a debutant movie “Kisaan Kanya” (1937) was discussed by Mr Sadanand Kamath. Sudhir Jee has lined up another debutant movie song for the next day. That way at least the “debutant” movie resolution has been taken care of till now.

That frees me up to concentrate on YIPPEE movies. I discussed the last song from “Mad Bhare Nain” (1955) on the first day of the year. Today (2 january 2018), I again scanned for suitable movies (with one song left). As happens most of the time, I found that the final song of many movies were not available. On the few cases where the final songs were available, the songs were so special that I felt that these songs needed to be held back for some special occasions.

That really limits my options. After scanning yearwise, staring from the earlier years onwards, I finally settled for “Ek Kunwaari Ek Kunwaara” (1973) as the movie whose final song was available and the movie movie could be YIPPEED for the day.

“Ek Kunwaari Ek Kunwaara” (1973) was a comedy film which was directed by Prakash Mehra for J J Films, Bombay. The movie had Rakesh Roshan, Leena Chandawarkar, Pran, Kumkum, Rajendranath, Janki Das, Jugal Kishore, Goga Kapoor, Lalita Kumari, Raj Mehra, Moolchand, Yunus Parvez, Ram Sethi, Sundar etc ion it.

The movie has four songs in it. Three songs, including the most popular song from the movie viz. Agar dil hamaara sheeshe ke badle patthar kaa hotaa , have been covered in the past.

The fourth and final song from the movie is chronologically the first song of the movie. It appears in the movie just about 19 minutes after the start. A new year party is in progress and the announcer announces this “item” number, presented by a new “item”. This song is a stage performance song. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle. The dance performer is Jayshree T (I guess), but Pran, who is there among the audience, imagines her to be Kumkum. So one can say that this song is picturised on Jayshree T as well as Kumkum.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

With this song, “Ek Kunwaari Ek Kunwaara” (1973) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

[Ed Note: The lyrics for this song were sent in by Prakash ji earlier in July. At time after reviewing the song, we had agreed to retain this song for the New Year day. At that time the video clip of this song was available, which had the lead in announcement of the song being in celebration of New Year. When we checked again two days ago, the video clip on YT is now disabled. On YT, we are able to locate only an audio clip of the song, which excludes the New Year connection. The video clip is now uploaded on Atul ji’s Vimeo channel. The complete movie is however available on YT at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i4IwQWxFME . In this film clip, the song appears at 18:58 to 23.10, including the New Year announcement in the beginning.]

Song-Chori khole na ye maathe ka paseena (Ek Kunwaari Ek Kunwaara)(1973) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics (Provided by Prakashchandra)

lagta hai mile ho tum
ae yaar kahin pahle
khele ho mere dil se dildaar
kahin pahle

chori khole na
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na
ye maathe ka paseena
ye dhak dhak seena
banaaya toone kaisa ye haal sajna
ye haal sajna
teri aankhon ne
ho o teri aankhon ne
ye chhal kiya mujhse
magar maine tujhse
kiya to nahin koi sawaal sajna
sawaal sajna
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na

kaahe soche re
kaahe soche
kaahe soche re daaman thhaam koi
aisi barson mein aati hai shaam koi
ye hai pyaala puraana
chhod bhi de
naya pyaala uthha
ise tod bhi de
naye rang se mana naya saal sajna
saal sajna
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na
ye maathe ka paseena
ye dhak dhak seena
banaaya toone kaisa ye haal sajna
ye haal sajna
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na

toone jis din se ae
toone jis din se
toone jis din se mera ye haal kiya
main bhi chalne lagi teri chaal piya
mujhe dil se nikaal diya
gham nahin
mujhe raahon mein daal diya
gham nahin
padoon peechhe to rakhna khayaal sajna
khayaal sajna
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na
ye maathe ka paseena
ye dhak dhak seena
banaaya toone kaisa ye haal sajna
ye haal sajna
teri aankhon ne
ho o teri aankhon ne
ye chhal kiya mujhse
magar maine tujhse
kiya to nahin koi sawaal sajna
sawaal sajna
chori khole na
ho o chori khole na

by what i remember of the movie, Pran who plays Leena’s brother is supposed to have loved and ditched Kumkum. the child with Kumkum is Pran’s contriburtion. no wonder Pran is breaking into sweat
