Missing Films of 1960s – 46

Today, we introduce the film ‘Chaar Chakram’ from 1965. Another film by the same name was also produced in 1932. The name ‘Chaar Chakram’ takes off on the more familiar Hindi phrases that tell of the friendship amongst four friends – ‘chaar yaar’ and ‘chandaal chaukdi’.
This film was produced under the banner of PM Pictures, Bombay and directed by Sultan. The star cast listed in the Geet Kosh is very detailed. The lead roles are by Shyam Kumar and Leela Kumari, and the supporting cast is Tuntun, SK Prem, Anjum, Fazal Khan, Haroon, Bhagwan, and another long list of names that are not too familiar – Kenny, Bob, Butter, Jilani, Maqbool, Ajeet, A Siddique, Hameeda, Sabeena, Lawrence, Chand, Doctor, Daud, Ameer, Muhammad Sandow, Ahmed, Zeenat, Purushottam, Bhai Das, and Iqbal.
Geet Kosh lists four songs for this film. All songs are written by Anjaan, and the music compositions are by the lesser know duo of Suresh-Talwar. The singing voice is of Minu Purushottam. So as you would have noticed, today’s song is quite a bit off the regular track, in terms of the artists involved.
The song tells of how the young lady’s heart has been stolen by her beau. His appearance is that of a simpleton. But his eyes cast a magic spell and the young lady is smitten with love.
With this song, the 1965 film ‘Chaar Chakram’ makes its debut on our blog.
