“Rangeela Ratan” (1976) was directed by S Ramnathan for R B Films, Bombay. The movie had ashok Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Rama Prabha, Ajeet, Jeewan, Ratan Khatri (special role), Durga Khote, Shyama, Narendanath, Tuntun, Sunder, Shashi Kiran, Shreeram Laagoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, Keshto Mukherji, Manorama, urmila Bhatt, Uma Khosla, Katy Irani, Babban Lal Yadav, Ghanshyam, Birbal, Viju Khote, Preetam, Gopal, Dilip Dutt, Shekhar Purohit etc in it.
The movie was supposedly based on the life of Ratan Khatri (who makes an appearnce in the movie), who was known as matka king of Bombay those days. Matka was a kind of gambling (gambling is illegal in India of course).
The movie had five songs in it. One song has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Rangeela Ratan” (1976) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar. Gulshan Bawra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
The song is picturised on Parveen Babi and Rishi Kapoor.

Ah, I remember this song now. Last heard it when I probably saw the movie all those years ago. Pleasant song.
Don’t remember the story anymore – all I remember is the title song had a lot of hat-throwing. 🙂
