Long long ago, K L Saigal sahab had sung about a bungalow. “Ek Bangla Baney Nyaara“. In that song Saigal sahab fantasized about living in a bungalow with his family.

Four four decades, no other hindi song coveting a Bungalow came about. It was in 1977 that another Bungalow song came about. This time it is a lady who fantasises about living in a bungalow. Unlike Saigal sahab, she is not willing to share it with her kunba though. She wants to share it only with her balma who must be anaadi enough to agree to share his bungalow and gaadi with her. 🙂

This song is from “Aap Ki Khaatir”(1977). This movie was directed by Shudhendu Roy for Indu Pictures, Bombay. This social movie had Vinod Khanna, Rekha, Nadira, Helen, Kuljeet Singh Macmohan, Tuntun, Tarun Ghosh, Piloo Wadia, Subrat Mahapatra, Birbal, V Gopal, Mamaji, Dhanna lal, Manmauji, Madhup Sharma with guest appearances by Asrani, Sonia Sahni, Om Shivpuri, Merad and Janki Das.

This song has six songs in it. One song “Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost ” became a suprise hit and drowned out the other songs from the movie. That one song is the only song from the movie to appear in the blog.

Here is this second song from ‘Aap Ki Khaatir’ (1977) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lata with humming by Bappi Lahiri. Shailly Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The song is picturised on Rekha and Vinod Khanna.

pyaara ek banagla ho

Atul ji,

So the first one that comes to mind is ‘Mirza Ghalib’ (1954) and the song “Ganga Ki Reti Pe Bangla Chhawaayi De, Sainyaan Teri Khair Ho O Balma Teri Khair Ho”, which is already posted on our blog.

So then checking more on our blog, we have the song from ‘Aji Bas Shukriya’ (1958) which says “O Daataa O Daataa De Hamko Bhi Ek Pyaaraa Banglaa”.

When go into GK, I find a list of about 15 songs which talk about having a ‘bangla’ 🙂 the first one of which is from the film ‘Asmat Ka Moti’ (1935) which says “Reti Mein Bangla Bana De Kishorilal”.

So it seems that ‘coveting’ for a ‘pyaara bangla’ is quite a tradition with the songwriters in Hindi films. 🙂

Such a funny song, the faces Rekha and Vinod make are really cute. If I remember correctly, the movie was a remake of the Hollywood comedy For Pete’s Sake starring Barbra Streisand.

i love the song simply for the expression of the lead pair.oh Vinod Khanna was cute and a sport
