Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 8

When our dear Atul ji recently started an ‘innovative’ initiative under the ‘ten-year challenge’ or ‘Blog ten-year challenge’ I had mentioned it in my comments on the ‘first song’ in this series that, I would try to share lyrics if not articles as possible in this series. I had also mentioned that I could see a few opportunities for me in the coming days of this month. That was because I was browsing the posts of February’2009 on my own.
Today I have this opportunity to share a ‘song post’ under this series. And since its from ‘seventies’ I am happy to share it here.
Ten years back, on this day i.e. on 23rd February 2009, we had songs from the movies ‘Rajkumar-1964’, ‘Milan-1967’, ‘Chor Machaaye Shor-1974’, ‘Call Girl-1974’, ‘Badi Bahan-1949’, and ‘Dushman-1939’ posted on the blog. All the moves mentioned above, except ‘Call Girl-1974’ have already had all their songs posted on the blog and in turn achieved ‘Yippeeee’ ed status on the blog. 🙂
So, we have ‘Call Girl-1974’ remaining to be covered for all songs on the blog. And so far, only one song of this movie has been posted on the blog. And, I think that the one song posted was the only well-known song from the movie or we can say that the movie is identified with this one song only i.e. ‘ulfat me zamaane ki har rasm ko thukraao’ sung by Kishore Kumar.
However, when I was going through the songs available from this movie and song list of this movie in HFGK-Vol-V, I found that the above song is actually a ‘multiple version song’ sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. So, I am also sharing the Lata Version for this song separately and requesting Atul ji to kindly update it in the post please. This song was posted on 23rd February 2009 and there was only comment on it on the same day by Greta Memsaab. The second comment was by Mr. Chandrakant H Shah on 08th Dec’2016 and he had mentioned about this song being a multiple version song. However somehow this has been remained to be updated.
I too remember this song ‘ulfat me zamaane ki har rasm ko thukraao’ as a Kishore Kumar song only and I think the version was not that much popular then. I had not watched this movie until now, so can’t say much about that. Except I vaguely remember to have heard this Kishore Kumar song on radio frequently and thereafter its memory was revived when I had started collecting cassettes in 1985-86. In 1987-88 after the death of Kishore Kumar HMV has released an album titled ‘A tribute to the Legend’ (it was a four-cassette set) and this song was included in this album.
As per HFGK listing of songs of this movie the Lata Mangeshkar version appears first (at number 3 in the movie) and the Kishore Kumar version appears later (at number five in the movie).
‘Call Girl-1974’ was directed by Vijay Kapoor for Mukesh Movies, Bombay. It was produced by Mukesh Khanna.
It had Zahira, Vikram, Iftekhar, Urmila Bhatt, Shekhar Purohit, Minoo Mehtab, Reddi, Mansaram, Satyajeet, Shefali, Jankidas and Kuljeet.
Heena Kausar make a special appearance in this movie.
Jalal Agha and Nazneen, Krishan Dhawan and Paintal have friendly appearances in this movie. Story of this movie was by Mukesh Movies Story Department. Editing of this movie was done by B.S. Glaad. Screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by K. A. Abbas.
This movie had total seven songs including one multiple version song and one cabaret dance music. All the songs in this movie were written by Naqsh Lyallpuri and music was composed by Sapan-Jagmohan. Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Ranu Mukherjee who gave their voices to the songs in this movie had one solo song each, and there was one duet sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar and one by Kishore Kumar and Ranu Mukherjee.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 28.05.1974 with restricted viewing certificate (A).
Since I have not watched this movie, I can’t say much about it or the songs from this movie. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

The song is a nice one though it must not be popular or heard that much as the other song from this movie.
