“Tipu Sultan”(1959) was produced by Bakshi Jang Bahadur and directed by Jagdeesh Gautam for Global Film Bureau, Bombay. This “historical” movie had Jairaj, Anita Guha, Suresh, Rammohan, Krishnakumari, Jagdeesh kamal, Roopmala, Uma Dutt, A Kabuli, Fazal, Bishan Khanna, Kumari, Nazar, Shamlal,Nazeer Kashmiri, Kumari Neena, Maqbool, Dhanna, Sood, Anwaribai, Jeetbala etc in it.
The movie had six songs in it. One song has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Tipu Sultan”(1959) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Rahil Gorakhpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Batish.
The song is picturised as a Raj darbaar dance song of sorts, but from the “modern era” as we find some Englishmen among the audience of the dance performance.
I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the dancer who lip syncs this song.
It was on this day 11 years ago that I had opened my blogging account with wordpress in order to blog. So my association with wordpress completes 11 years today (11 july 2019). In other words, I had signed up with wordpress on 11 july 2008. I then mustered up the courage to post my first post eight days later on 19 july 2008. In other words, the 11th birthday of the blog is approaching eight days from now.

Anita Guha is the dancer who lip sync for the dance song, that`s my guess…………..

Atul Ji,
At the outset, awaiting 11th birthday of the blog.
As for the dance, IMHO, there is a mismatch between what is conceived and picturised and what should have been shown, to be authentic :))
What I mean is Tipu Sulatan is a southern king, from Mysore and dance shown looks more like one from Mughal Durbar. .
As for phirangis,in the Durbar, Tipu Sulatan ( 18 the century) had French people train his army( from his fathers time) and he had to fight with British ( East India Comp), to hold on his territory.
The song by itself is appealing ( not heard before)
