Today 21st July’2021 is the ninety-first (21.07.1930 – 30.03.2002) birth anniversary of Poet-Lyricist Anand Bakshi.
On this occasion, as a tribute to him, here is a song written by him for the movie ‘Goraa Aur Kaalaa’.
“Goraa Aur Kaalaa-1972” was directed by Naresh Kumar for ‘Shankar Movies, Bombay’. It was produced by Rajkumar Kohli.
It had Rajendra Kumar, Hema Malini, Rekha (Special role), Prem Chopra, Jagdeep, Madan Puri, Sulochana, Premnath, Sanjana, Sundar, Randhir, Hiralal, Bashir, Rajan Haksar, Ram Mohan, Kamal Deep, Tilak Raj, Prannath, Gulab Singh, Abdul Ghani, Ajiz Shaikh, Rashid Khan, Pandit Rammurti, Shobha, Sawan Kumar and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board 12.12.1972.
‘Goraa Aur Kaalaa-1972’ had six songs, all written by Anand Bakshi and composed to music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Mukesh had given their voices to the songs in this movie.

We can see from the above table that only two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog, and both were posted in the year 2009. Today’s song – the third song- from this movie will be appearing after a gap of more than twelve years.
The two songs posted in the blog are well known songs from this movie and I am aware of them. Another well known song, viz ‘dhoom mach gayi dhoom saathi’, too is known to be.
But the other three songs from this movie are unfamiliar to me. Even the movie is unfamiliar to me.
I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the songs of this movie.
Today’s song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and on screen it is performed by Rekha and Hema Malini. This is a seductive song where Rekha is trying to seduce Rajendra Kumar (the ‘kaalaa’ Rajendra Kumar). Rajendra Kumar is shown drinking and thinking of Hema Malini instead and not Rekha 😊
