Today, I learnt the importance of checking things on the blog before starting to write. I wrote a whole post with full detail. Very Happy, I sent it to Amma for proofreading. She replied – “I think I have already written about this song” and what do you know, “Dil Mein Jaagi Dhadkan” was already on this blog. But I had, already, written a post extolling how the song made me feel and why I loved it. The song was full of love & joy and always made me stop and give it attention. I had heard the song again because it was part of today’s polls in the bracket I mentioned in the “Ande ka Funda” song. And it inspired me to write.
But the song is already up there. I was in a fix. Now how do I express my love for Sunidhi Chauhan that’s been bursting out of me all day. She has always felt like the successor to Asha Bhonsle in the industry to me. Everyone remembers their disco, party and sultry songs. But their loving soft songs make you feel emotions and evoke complex ideas. It’s a mood when they aren’t typecast and allowed to show off their range.
So I went back to the movie to see if there is another Sunidhi Chauhan song and found another gorgeous song. It is completely opposite in mood to my first choice but it still has the range I wanted to extol. Sunidhi Chauhan hits the highs and lows so smoothly that you think that anyone can. I used to try and sing the songs from this movie and fail miserably at because its such a difficult song.
This song is from “Sur – The Melody Of Life” (2002) and is showing a student (Gauri Karnik) who is in love with her very accomplished mentor (Lucky Ali). She has been handpicked by him to be his protégé. Of course as the film progresses she realizes he is just interested in her talent. He wants the world to know that she was his student. She does find success but he doesn’t know how to deal with his protégé going ahead of him. At the point of this song, he has stolen her composition and is been praised while she realizes how he much he has betrayed her trust in him.
The movie, a Tanuja Chandra directorial, wasn’t a huge success but the music really made its mark. The music was by the now Oscar and Golden Globe winning MM Keeravani. The lyrics are by the poet Padma Shri Nida Fazli. The playback is by Lucky Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan and the song is picturised on Gauri Karnik, Lucky Ali, Simone Singh, Achint Kaur and Harsh Vashsiht. Unfortunately, I don’t recognize anyone else from the cast. But go ahead and hear this song that is a little piece of my childhood.

Nice post !!! Liked it with this song. Thanks for this one sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Lucky Ali.
I have not watched this movie, but it has some very good songs and I like them.
