“Panna Dai”(1945) was produced by Kamalabai Mangalorekar and directed by Ram Daryani for Pradeep Pictures. The movie had Panna Dai (title role), Chandramohan, M Ismail, Master Vithal, Meenakshi, Mubarak, Gope, Azurie, Gulab, Vasant Pehalwan, Leela Mishra etc in it.
“Panna Dai”(1945) had ten songs in it. Four songs (including one multiple version song) have been covered in the blog.
Here is the fifth song from the movie to appear in the blog. THis song is sung by Begam Akhtar (credited as Akhtari Faizabadi in the credits). Dewan Sharar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt.
Only audio of the song is available so it is difficult to guess how the song was picturised in the movie. It sounds like a mujra song, for going by the story of Panna Dai, there may not have been any mujra in the movie, though we cannot be sure. Hindi movie makers are known to take all kinds of poetic licenses when making movies.
It is perhaps for the first time that I have come across such a playful song sung by Begam Akhtar who was mostly known for singing serious songs viz ghazals etc.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

I am impressed bythestR castof movie with major artistes like Chandramohanand MSterVithal as well as GopeVasant Rao Pehelwan Azurie and other well known figures. Then z Ram Daryani as director for this lady (Mangalorekarbanner). Big budget film. Daryani production dictions was quite a major film maker in the mid thirties onwards. Ram Daryani was director for two of my mother Indurani film in 1937. Salim Shah
