In this post I am presenting a song from the ‘1979’ movie ‘Taraana’. This will be the fourth song from this movie to appear on this blog. That takes us one step forward on our mission to ensure that all the twelve songs from this movie finally get covered here.
Today’s song is the second song appearing in the movie after the first song ‘sultaana sultaana mera naam hai sultaana’. While the ‘banjaara’ troup is performing the first song, ‘chhote Thakur’ i.e. the hero of this movie Mithun Chakravarty- Shyam – reaches there and while watching the heroine Ranjeeta i.e. Radha performing he falls in ‘love’ and ‘throws’ his ring as ‘gift’ towards Radha.
Radha picks the ring and from this point they move to their respective homes. (The ‘banjaaras’ go to their camp obviously 🙂 Radha has Bijlee (Jayshree T.) as her close friend. Bijlee teases her over this new found ‘boy’.
The next ‘road-side’ performance is due soon and both Radha and Bijlee are expecting Shyam to come there. Will he? , is what this song is all about. Radha’s ‘left eye’ is already giving her some indication.
As expected Shyam reaches there with his pet ‘horse’:) and having his guitar in one hand and the while the ‘song-dance performance’ is mid-way. We have actor Bhagwan and Yunus Parvez as the lead musicians of the ‘banjaara’ troup and many other artistes in the group. Also we can see many others as the ‘crowd’ watching this performance.
‘Taraana’ was directed by Deepak Bahri for ‘Chanda Pictures’. It was presented by Rajshri Productions and produced by Tarachand Barjatya. ‘Taraana-1979’ had Ranjeeta, Mithun Chakraborty, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Urmila Bhatt, Jayshree T., Sharat Saxena, and Om Shivpuri. They were supported by Yunus Parvez, Janki Das, Sundar, Bhagwan, Shakeel, Satyabhan Sinha, Naresh, Pardesi, Master Sandeep, Shobha Khote, Mala Jaggi, Uma Khosla, and Jagdeep.
This movie has twelve songs where lyricist Ravindra Rawal and Tilakraj Thapar penned six songs each. Usha Mangeshkar, Shailendra Singh, Aarti Mukherjee, Jagjit Singh, Dilraj Kaur, Chetan and Varsha Bhonsle had given their voices to the songs in this movie. Music for this movie was composed by Raamlaxman.
Today’s song is in the voices of Usha Mangeshkar and Varsha Bhonsle. Let us enjoy this song now.
