“Ginny Aur Johny-1976” was directed by Mehmood for ‘Balaji Arts, Bombay’. It was produced by Amarlal P Chhabria. The cast of this movie has Ginny (debutant, Mehmood’s real life daughter), Mehmood, Helen, Bhushan Tiwari, Preeti Ganguly, Naushir Khatau and others. There were several actors who appeared in friendly appearance in this movie. They included Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Mehra, Amjad Khan, Kati Mirza, Imtiaz, Tiwari, Asit Sen, Keshto Mukherjee, Anwar Ali, Nazeer Hussain, Anwar Hussain, Sundar, Mukri, Chand Usmani, Shyama, Ruby Myers (Sulochana), Nana Palsikar, Leela Mishra, Polson, Mohan Choti, Peelu Wadia, Shobhana, and Lucky.
This movie has five songs (including one two-part song). All songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Music for this movie was composed by Rajesh Roshan. Kishore Kumar, Mehmood, Vijayeta Pandit, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar were the singers for this movies’ songs.
Today on the occasion of Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Kishore Kumar and Vijayeta Pandit. It is picturised on screen on Mehmood and Ginny.
In his film career singer Kishore Kumar had worked with almost all music composers and their association have given us many memorable and timeless classic songs. Rajesh Roshan is one such music director. There are many songs composed by Rajesh Roshan and sung by Kishore Kumar which are part of my memories and nostalgia. Songs from the movies of Mehmood (that had music by Rajesh Roshan) are very close to my heart, e.g. songs from the movie ‘Kunwaara Baap-1974’. I also like the songs from ‘Ginny Aur Johny’. I have never watched this movie but I have heard its songs. Today’s song is one such song that I like very much. Singing for Mehmood, Kishore Kumar has used his special voice reserved for Mehmood. Same is the case for Rajesh Roshan while he composed songs for movies made by Mehmood.
One song from this movie ‘Ginny Aur Johny’ has been posted on the blog years back on 29.09.2012. Today’s song is the second song from this movie to appear on this blog. This song is in two parts i.e. happy and sad version. The audio link contains both parts. Video of only part 1 is available. I could not locate the video of part-2.
