“Kohraam” (1999) was directed by Mehul Kumar & produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd. It was a multi-starrer with Amitabh Bachchan & Nana Patekar playing central characters. Tabu, Jaya Prada (in a tiny role), Ayesha Jhulka, Danny, Kabir Bedi, Mukul Dev, Mukesh Rishi were the others in the cast. Jackie Shroff had a guest appearance. The songs were written by Anand Bakshi (2), Dev Kohli (5) & Sameer (1). Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen were the music directors. Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Amit Kumar, Sudesh Bhosle, Abhijeet, Shankar Mahadevan, Jaspinder Narula, Udit Narayan, Kavitha Krishnamurty, Sukhwinder Singh, Sanjeevani & Kishanpal Singh were the voices used for the songs.
The plot of the film is as follows:-
“The story starts with the death of an army officer (Jackie Shroff), and it is believed to be the act of a terrorist group headed by Changezi (Mukesh Rishi). Colonel Balbir Singh Sodhi (Amitabh Bachchan) is asked to investigate this matter and he ends up discovering that minister Veerbhadra Singh (Danny Denzongpa) is involved in this conspiracy. Colonel Sodhi stages his own death in an attempt to kill Changezi and starts living as Dadabhai/ Devraj Hathoda in Mumbai. Major Ajit Arya (Patekar) is sent in the guise of a Bengali journalist to find out the true identity of Dadabhai/ Devraj Hathoda. Once Arya discovers the truth, he joins hands with Colonel Sodhi to bring the minister to justice and terminate the terrorist group.
Tabu is a police officer in love with Major Ajit Arya and Jaya Prada is Colonel Sodhi’s wife.”
The movie was an entertainer that did average business but the performances of the principal cast was lauded. This was Amitabh Bachchan’s second film with director Mehul Kumar after “Mrityudaata” (1997).
This was the last film in which Amitabh Bachchan was seen clean-shaven. After this, he sported a beard in “Mohabbatein” (2000); and after “Aks” (2001), he decided to permanently sport the french beard he wore in it. This was the only film where Nana Patekar & Amitabh Bachchan cast & their roles were equally important.
I have tried to write posts to wish my favorite actor on his birthday since 2016. The first was a post that was a combination of Navaratri, Rekha & Amitabh birthdates. Three songs in the eight posts (as seen in the following table) were sung by Amitabh Bachchan himself.

We are in the middle of Sharad Navartri and here is a song in praise of Devi Maa and shows pilgrims on the way to Vaishno Devi. Sukhwinder Singh and Sanjeevani are the playback singers.
The plot of the film shows this pilgrimage to be under threat from terrorists & Danny is supposed to be a minister who is trying to portray himself as being indifferent to the threat. We also have Nana Patekar & Amitabh Bachchan in disguises among the crowd so that they can foil the terror attack.
