Mukesh and his Co-Singers –12

The decade of 70’s saw many new playback singers try their talent and luck in establishing themselves in HFM. Quite a few of them were successful and one prominent singer amongst them is Anuradha Paudwal. The very name brings to memory her popular stint in singing filmi and NFS especially bhajans. Her works are well documented and available on the net. The wiki page on her has detailed description regarding her career, awards etc. As such, I shall skip writing on her works.
Having made her debut in 1973, by reciting a shlok from the Bhagvadgita, in the film ‘Abhimaan’ (1973), she had very few chances to sing with Mukesh who passed away in 1976. In all, there are only two duets in HFM and one in a Gujarati film.
Her brief association with Mukesh in HFM is listed in the table below, with the Gujarati duet being excluded for obvious reasons.

One duet (multiple version) of the combo, “Rakh Di Hai Beech Dagar Maine Gagariya” has already been covered by our Avinash ji.
The other song, a triad along with Mohammed Rafi is being taken up in this post. It is from the film ‘Daaku aur Jawaan’ (1978), which has already been introduced on the blog by our Nalini ji. The triad is filmed on Sunil Dutt, Vinod Khanna and Reena Roy with Md. Rafi, Mukesh and Anuradha Paudwal respectively giving the playback.
The gorgeous Reena Roy has only a line or two to deliver which she does on a jhoola. I had a tough time recognizing her due to heavy make-up (for a village and field background song) and the fact that her face is not clearly visible due to the movement of the jhoola. Naturally, my mind too kept oscillating multiple names before I could zero in on Reena Roy. 😊 In fact, I had to rush to Prakash ji for identification before I could identify her myself.
With this post wherein Mukesh gives playback for Vinod Khanna, I may run the risk of not being able to cover him under Mukesh and his Actors series. However, Sunil Dutt stays with one very good song yet to be posted, which I shall cover shortly.
