Hullo Atuldom
The song in this post should have, ideally, been posted yesterday or the day before. But like the phrase says ‘Better Late Than Never’. And, I am not giving any excuses for the delay. 🙂

The song features the Ever- not Green- but Young (at heart) Dev Anand in what was his last lead role in a film that was neither produced nor directed by him. Prior to this, he had acted in ‘Amir Garib’ in 1975, which was produced & directed by Mohan Kumar.

Devsaab was 66 when acted in this film which was produced by (new name for me) Jai Sharma & directed by Jagdish Kadar and Kader Kashmir (the titles of the film gives the name of the director/s as Jagdish-Kadar). Music for that film was by Nadeem Shravan & Anwar Sagar was the lyricist. Mohd Aziz, Alisha Chinai, Manhar Udhas, Vinod Rathod, Udit Narayan, Sarika Kapoor & Kavitha Krishnamurthy were the play back singers used for the 5 songs of which one was a 2-version song.

The plot of the film was on the lines of ‘Sholay’ and ‘Karma’.

In this film Devsaab played Professor Anand who has a happy family consisting of a wife (Madhavi in a special appearance), son (Master Rahul a.k.a. Master Rinku) & sister (Sonam). She is soon to be married to an inspector (Sumeet Saigal). The Professor & inspector’s happy life gets topsy-turvy when their path crosses that of a drug-mafia Don (Kiran Kumar). Madhavi & the son get killed & Sonam is left in a Coma. The inspector resigns from his job and joins hands with the Professor to recruit- all those who are affected by the Don- and form a ‘LASHKAR’ (the name of the film). Javed Jafferi , Hemant Birje & Aditya Pancholi are recruited. Sadashiv Amrapurkar (as a frustrated police inspector), Neeta Puri, Feroz Irani (real life brother of Aruna Irani), Shiva, Bhushan Tiwari (guest appearance) etc were the others in the film.

Before writing this post, I saw the film till the point when Intermission comes. I saw it on Youtube and read a few comments therein:- some one has commented that “uss time ki hit movie thi, aaj dekhi toh ajeeb lagti hai. anyway Devsaab ki baat hi kuch aur thi..” Looks like that person was a die-hard Dev Anand Fan. 🙂

People had also appreciated the acting of Javed Jafferi, Aditya Pancholi & Hemant Birje in their comments.

The song is in the voices of Mohd Aziz, Vinod Rathod & Manhar Udhas. Dev Anand starts the song in the voice of Mohd Aziz and the other two singers give their voice for the other four on-screen.

With this post we wish the actor (Javed Jafferi) who is a good dancer & mimic, with a sense of comedy (much-like his father) belated birthday wishes (it was yesterday). And also remember the ever energetic Dev Anand on his 13th death anniversary (which was on 3rd December) and enjoy a song that is full of his mannerisms.
