Hullo Atuldom

The first song that I had sent to Atulji for posting today was from a film that had Sharmila Tagore’s character playing mother to Saif Ali Khan’s character in a 1993 film .

The song in this post is also similar. It has Dharmendra playing father to Sunny & Bobby Deol- his real life sons. Before this 2007 film the father-son duo of Dharmendra-Sunny had worked together in “Sultanat”, “Sunny” (no screentime together), “Saverewali Gaadi” and “Kshatriya”. Bobby & Sunny Deol had worked together in “Dillagi” in 1999.

“Apne” (2007) was directed by Anil Sharma, produced Sangita Ahir and distributed by Dharmendra’s Vijayta Films. Kirron Kher, Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif played the ladies in the life of the Deols who played Baldev, Angad & Karan Singh Choudhary. Victor Bannerjee played the senior choudhary’s friend. Himesh Reshammiya was the music director who used Jaspinder Narula, Akkriti Kakkar, Sonu Nigam, Jayesh Gandhi, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Amrita Kak, & Himesh himself. For a song the film version Zubeen Garg replaced Himesh Reshammiya. Sameer was the lyricist.

“Baldev Singh Choudhary is an Olympic medalist who has to leave the arena in disgrace when he is falsely accused of using drugs during a world championship by a betting syndicate. He tries to erase this stain upon his honour by training up his son, Angad, but financial difficulties keep them from achieving his dream, straining their relationship with each other. Baldev’s younger son Karan, an aspiring musician with a paralyzed arm, has just launched his first music album.

Baldev trains a local boy to get into a media-hyped TV boxing show but is dropped for a better coach at the last minute. Baldev, very upset at this, is consoled by Karan, who overcomes his paralysis in a moment of emotional intensity. Realising his father is depressed, Karan gives up his own dream of a musical career to become a boxer and please his father. Karan persists with training and wins a series of fights, thinking that victory will bring his family together. The final match is with the current world heavyweight champion; Karan is tricked, and he ends up paralysed in a hospital bed.

Baldev, who wanted to wash a stigma, is now about to lose his son. When Karan reveals the world heavyweight champion cheated, Angad decides to return to boxing and win the title for his father. Although Angad is also badly injured in a boxing match, he somehow survives and wins the match”

That was the basic story of “Apne”. It also focused on strained relations between the father and his older son as the son always felt that the father was never there when the family needed him and the mother had to shoulder all the responsibilities. The song today also shows the strain & how the ladies in the family were supportive .

This was a film that our Garam Dharam was around 72. He was still looking charming and healthy. Today he is turning 89.😱
I cannot believe he is 89.

The song is in the voices of Jaspinder Narula, Jayesh Gandhi & Sonu Nigam.

Lyrics

baaki sab
sapne
hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain

mujhse tera moh naa chhoote
dil ne banaaye kitne bahaane
dooja koyee kya pehchaaane
jo tan laage so tan jaane
beete guzre lamhon kee saaree baaten tadpaateen hain
dil kee surkh deewaaron pe bas yaaden hee reh jaati hain
baakee sab sapne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
channa ve
jaake jaldee chale aana
jaanewaale tainu pind tiya galiyaan pukaarengee
jaanewaale tainu baagaan wich kaliyaan pukaarengee

tere sang laad ladaavaav ve
tere sang laad ladaavaan
tere sang pyaar nibhaava ve
tere sang pyaar nibhaava
tere sang laad ladaavaan ve
tere sang laad ladaavaan
tere sang pyaar nibhaavaan ve
tere sang pyaar nibhaavaan

tujhse bada chaahe maine na kiya hai
par ek lamhaa na tere bin jiyaa hai
jaana maine jaanaa ye dil aazmaane se
kabhee na chhupe rabaa pyaar chhupaane se
tere sang laad ladaavaan ve
tere sang laadladaavaan
o tere sang pyaar nibhaavaa re
o tere sang pyaar nibhaavaa
beete guzre lamhon kee saaree baaten tadpaateen hain
dil kee surkh deewaaron per yaaden hee rah jaateen hain
baakee sab sapne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain

teree meree raahon mein chaahe dooriyaan hain
in faaslon mein bhee nazdeekiyaan hain
sari ranjishon ko too pal mein mita le
aaja aa bhi jaa
mujhko gale se laga le
tere sang laad ladaavaan re
tere sang laad ladaavaan
o tere sang pyaar nibhaavaan re
tere sang pyaar nibhaavaan
beete guzre lamhon kee saaree baaten tadpaateen hain
dil kee surkh deewaaron pe bas yade reh jaati hain
baakee sab sapne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain
apne toh apne hote hain

apne toh apne hote hain
