teri aawaaz se rahe bekhabar
hamare dil ki kab ye mazaal hai
Due apologies to Majrooh saab for tweaking his well-known ghazal from Aakhri Daao (1958)
Remembering and celebrating Mohammed Rafi saab on his birth centenary (24 December 1924-31 July 1980).
It is just 44 years since Rafi saab passed away in 1980, but ever since he graced our HFM with his matchless voice, it is as if the voice always existed and will remain us forever.
So many composers, lyricists, actors, co-singers and song situations, but it was the voice of Rafi saab that held all facets of films and its music together in thousands of songs. A voice that was God gifted and a soul that was a representation of all the good virtues, Rafi saab is remembered not only for his songs but also for his humane nature.
There are over three thousand three hundred Rafi songs already covered on the blog. There are probably dozens of bio-graphical posts and multiple opinions of readers and guest contributors on his voice, songs and the legendary tales.
I have already covered a post on Rafi saab highlighting my special liking of his sad songs from late 40s and 50s. I was lucky enough to represent one such song Ik dil ne kaha ik dil ne suna exactly 9 years back.
Also, when I started the series Mukesh and his co-singers, a natural and first choice amongst male singers was Rafi saab.
Saat ajoobe is duniya mein aathvin apni jodi was an apt song featuring 23 jewels of the two singers in my debut post in the series Mukesh and his co-singers.
With so many songs of Rafi saab already covered on the blog by various music enthusiasts, it was difficult for me to select a new song. With some difficulty, I was able to locate an uncovered song from the film Faisla (1965).
The film has 7 songs, of which 5 are represented on the blog. This is the 6th song to be covered and is the only song of Rafi saab in the film. It is a light-hearted solo song featured on Jugal Kishore teasing L. Vijayalaxmi.
The composer is Usha Khanna and the lyricist is Asada Bhopali.
A hundred years of Rafi saab and a lifetime of musical and melodious memories for several generations.

Mahesh ji,
You have inadvertently found a gem. A song, where a different sort of “yodelling” is heard with the echo in 2nd and 3rd stanza. I have not heard exactly this, in any other song. Also notable is the exact, soft way Rafi Sahab ends the mukhda and each stanza.
Its almost like the idea for the technology usage in sound-mixing recording was invented, with Rafi’s “practice makes perfect quality” in mind
Change of lyrics as indicated in the comments above, means the song was re-written and re-recorded, possible. So the scrapped recording too must be available somewhere?

Zafar ji,
Many Thanks for your comment and the trivia associated with the song. I did notice it at a couple of locations, but when I traced the video of the song, I missed exploring the detail.
