Today 29th December 2024 is the eighty-second birth anniversary (29.12.2024-18.07.2012) of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.2024-18.07.2012). On this occasion, we are paying our tributes to him by covering a few songs picturised on him.
The song in this post is from the movie “Aawaaraa Baap” which was released in the year of 1985.
“Aawaaraa Baap-1985” was produced and directed by Sohanlal Kanwar for his own banner Filmnagar, Bombay. It is a social movie passed by censor board on 19.11.1985. The cast of this movie has Rajesh Khanna, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Rajan Sippy, Madhuri Dixit, Om Shivpuri, Iftekhar, Om Prakash, Paintal, Bharat Bhooshan, Chand Usmani, Shammi, Brahm Bharadwaj, Yogesh Sharma, Shaikh, Surendra Pal, Pradeep Sharma, Rana Jung Bahadur, Ashok Saksena, Kamaldeep, Arun Mathur, Savita Bajaj, Hamid, Nisaar and others. Neeta Mehta had a special appearance in this movie while Komal Mahuakar and Pinchoo Kapoor had friendly appearances in this movie.
Music for “Aawaaraa Baap-1985” was composed by R. D. Burman where he was assisted by Maruti, Manohari and Babloo. This movie has seven songs which were contributed by three lyricist viz. M.G. Hashmat, Vishweshwar Sharma and Verma Malik. The playback singers for this movie are Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Anuradha Paudwal, Suresh Wadkar and Amit Kumar.
“Aawaaraa Baap” was the second collaboration of Sohanlal Kanwar as a director and Rajesh Khanna as actor after “Paapi Pet Ka Sawaal Hai-1984”. Before that Sohanlal Kanwar had produced “Dhanwaan-1981” where Rajesh Khanna was a lead actor but it was directed by Surendra Mohan. Coming from a banner like ‘Filmnagar’ the movie both the movies “Paap Pet Ka Sawaal Hai” and “Aawaara Baap-1985” had big expectations but they could not get the success as it was thought to be.
This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. It is picturised as a party song. Rajesh Khanna plays the title role of Aawaara Baap in this movie. In this song we see him behaving like an aawaara by flaunting his dalliances publicly, embarassing the subject of his affairs while infuriating Meenakshi Sheshadri.
M G Hashmat is the lyricist of the song. He has come up with interesting lyrics in this song.
