Today 17th January 2025 is the 80th birthday of Writer, Poet and Lyricist Javed Akhtar who was born on 17th January 1945. On this occasion we are discussing songs penned by him. Three such songs have already been covered earlier in the day. For this occasion I have specifically selected songs written by Javed Akhtar where music is composed by R D Burman. Javed Akhtar and R D Burman collaborated in only eight films as per details given below. Together their association has created forty-four songs.

There is only one movie ‘Jhhoothhi Shaan-1991’ in the list that remaining to be introduced on the blog. The other movie ‘Drohee-1992’ was introduced in the blog earlier today.
In this post I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Duniyaa-1984’ which was the first time Javed Akhtar and R.D. Burman collaborated together.
‘Duniyaa-1984’ was directed by Ramesh Talwar for ‘Dharma Productions, Pvt Ltd’. It was produced by Yash Johar and passed by Censor Board on 18.09.1984. Hiroo Johar was the associate producer of this movie. Naresh Malhotra was the Chief Assistant Director of this movie. Story, Screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Javed Akhtar who also wrote the lyrics of the six songs in this movie. Editing of this movie was done by the famous Waman Bhonsle and Gurudutt Shirali. The cast of this movie has Ashok Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Amrita Singh, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, and Pran. It also featured Satyen Kappu, Mac Mohan, Javed Khan, Arvind Deshpande, Sulbha Deshpande, Akbar, Dhumal, Master Rinkoo, Baby Pooja, and supported by many others. Pradeep Kumar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Om Puri make a guest appearance in this movie, while Saira Banu appeared in a very special appearance in this movie. Music for this movie was composed by R.D. Burman. The singers for this movie are Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Mahendra Kapoor.
Two songs from this movie “Duniyaa-1984” have already been posted on the blog in the past. In this post I am presenting a lovely romantic duet song sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. Rishi Kapoor and Amrita Singh lip-sync the song. We can see Rishi Kapoor and Amrita Singh around some beautiful locations like alongside a river, then getting drenched in rains, alongside a waterfall, and finally ending up in a garden 😊 as is usual in such type of songs 😊 Enjoy this lovely duet !!
