“Joshilay-1989” was directed by Sibte Hasan Rizvi for ‘New World Enterprises’. It had Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Satyen Kappu, Alok Nath, Prema Narayan, Rajesh Puri, Rama Vij, Bharat Bhushan and Master Jatin Khurana, Harjeet Walia, Hanif, Agarwal, Bhiku Verma, Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Hemant Mishra, K.L. Shetty, Deepak Kejriwal, Satish Kaushik, Kumud Tripathi, Ashok Sharma, Ami Asthana, Ravi Shastri, Mahendra, Arvind, Deep Dhillon. This movie introduced Rajesh Vivek as ‘Jogi Thakur’. Story, screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Javed Akhtar. Editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. Javed Akhtar also wrote the lyrics of the songs in this movie and music was composed by R.D. Burman. “Joshilay” or “Joshile” was passed by Censor Board on 10.01.1989.
This movie has five songs. The LP Vinyl cover of this movie though mentions six soundtracks. It mentions the song ‘na jaa jaane jaan’ twice.
Two songs from this movie “Joshilay-1989” have been posted earlier on the blog. Today I present the third song from this movie which is sung by Kishore Kumar. On screen this song is played in the background where we see Sunny Deol and Anil Kapoor riding on horses and travelling through different terrains. From the picturisation of the song we can guess that both of them are looking for their ‘common enemy’ and his hideouts.
This song reminds us of the song ‘jeewan mein tu darnaa naheen’ from the movie ‘Khotey Sikkey-1974’. The lyrics of this song are as ‘strong and robust’ and they define the characters of the ‘heroics’ of the heroes too.
Today on the occasion of the 80th birthday of lyricist Javed Akhtar, let us listen to these wonderful verses by him. Music is composed by R.D. Burman.
