“Khyber” (1954) was produced and directed by Kamal Kapoor for Kapil Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Kamal Kapoor and Nigar Sultana in lead roles. The movie also had Naaz, Tiwari, Niranjan Sharma, B M Vyas, Chaman Puri, Nand Kishore, Dev Raj, Rajan Kapoor, Dichhoo Kumar (Jr.), Roop Kumar, Baby Ratan, Chiman Lal, Charanjit Kumar, Indu Pal etc in it.
“Khyber” in the title perhaps refers to the place called Khyber or Khaiber in present day Pakistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which was part of India before 1947. This place located in Himalayas has a pass called Khyber pass. It is through this pass that invaders from the west gained entry into India. This region was known as Gandhar in ancient times.
