Dance Dance was produced and directed by Babbar Subhash and had music by Bappi Lahiri.
The film starred Mithun Chakraborty, Smita Patil, Mandakini, Shakti Kapoor, Amrish Puri, etc.
“Dance Dance” is a musical drama centered on the aspirations, trials, and tragedies faced by a brother-sister duo who dream of making it big in the world of music and dance. The film explores themes of ambition, revenge, exploitation in showbiz, and the enduring bond between siblings.
The Story of this movie is:
Radha and Ramu are siblings who are deeply passionate about music and dance, an influence inherited from their parents, who were themselves performers. Their happy family life is shattered when their parents are brutally murdered by a ruthless gangster named A.M. Singh (played by Amrish Puri), due to an old enmity.
Orphaned and traumatized, the two children grow up struggling to survive but never give up on their dream of becoming successful performers. As adults, Ramu (Mithun Chakraborty) and Radha (Smita Patil) begin performing professionally and gradually rise in the music and dance circuit.
Ramu falls in love with Priya (Mandakini), a fellow singer-dancer. Meanwhile, Radha falls into bad company and becomes involved with the manipulative and dangerous music producer, David Brown (Shakti Kapoor), who exploits her.
Radha’s descent into alcohol and despair contrasts sharply with Ramu’s rising success. When Ramu eventually discovers that A.M. Singh, the man responsible for his family’s destruction, is still at large, he vows to take revenge.
The film moves toward a dramatic climax where music, revenge, redemption, and tragedy collide. Ramu must rescue his sister, confront his enemies, and fulfill the dreams that began in childhood.
Today’s song “Mere Dil Gaaye Ja” is performed by Alisha Chinoy, a trailblazing Indian pop and playback singer, known for her bold voice and energetic style. Often dubbed the “Indian Madonna,” she was just 15 when she recorded this track, which helped establish her in Bollywood’s music scene. It’s composed by Bappi Lahiri, the “Disco King” of Bollywood, with lyrics by Anjaan.
The song is a classic example of 1980s disco-pop fusion in Indian cinema .
The song is lip synced by Marathi actress, Sarla Yeolekar. We can also see Satish Kaul on Keyboard and Amrish Puri in the audience, ogling at the singer/dancer.
