Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 31

“Deewaangi”(1976) was produced by Subodh Mukherji and directed by Sameer Ganguly. The movie had Shashi Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Helen, Manju, Mehmood, Madan Puri, Narendra Nath, Paintal etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it.

The first song was posted almost 7 years ago. Here is the second song from “Deewaangi”(1976) to appear in the blog.

“Meri Jawaani Kare Ishaare” is sung by Asha Bhosle. Naqsh Layallpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravindra Jain.

Deewangee is a romantic thriller revolving around love, betrayal, mental trauma, and redemption. It follows the life of a deeply sensitive and passionate young man whose intense love turns into obsession, leading him down a dark path of emotional turmoil and moral conflict. The film explores how one’s inner emotional world can spiral out of control when love is not returned or is betrayed.

The story of the film is:

Shashi Kapoor plays Ravi, a gentle and artistic soul who falls madly in love with Sheetal (Zeenat Aman), a beautiful and confident woman. Ravi’s love for Sheetal is all-consuming, bordering on obsession. He believes their bond is deep and fated.

However, Sheetal does not return his feelings with the same intensity. She is attracted to another man, and for Ravi, this is devastating. His world begins to unravel, and the pain of unrequited love pushes him to emotional extremes.

As the story progresses, Ravi’s heartbreak leads him into a state of mental instability. His love turns into a form of deewangee (madness) — hence the title. What was once a tender affection becomes dark and possessive. He begins to stalk her, confront her lover, and engage in erratic, sometimes dangerous behavior.

The people around Ravi — including his friends and family — try to reason with him, but his obsession has taken root too deeply. The film becomes a psychological drama as it portrays the effects of emotional imbalance and the blurred lines between love and madness.

The climax involves a confrontation that forces Ravi to come face-to-face with reality and the consequences of his actions. Ultimately, Deewangee ends on a poignant note, addressing themes of emotional healing and the fine line between passion and madness.
