Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 33
“Kaise Kahoon Kis Se Kahoon” is from “Gaon Hamaara Shehar Tumhaara” (1972) and is sung by Asha Bhosle. The song was penned by Rajendra Krishan and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
“Gaon Hamaara Shehar Tumhaara” (1972), was directed by Naresh Kumar for Dimple Films, Bombay. He is also the producer of this movie. This movie was presented by Rajendra Kumar. The star cast includes Rajendra Kumar as Birju, Rekha as Paro, Sujit Kumar, Lalita Pawar, Satyadeep, Shamsher, Aarti, Ajit Sachdev, Sundar, Bhagwan, Kamaldeep, Kanhaiyyalal and others.
Our friend and co-contributor to this blog, Avinash Scrapwala Ji has introduced the movie on the blog 3 years ago with this post .
The story of the film is:
Chandrashekhar Pandey and his wife Lajwanti visit Birju’s village, promising his widowed mother that in return for their land, Birju will get a small shop in Bombay. Trusting them, his mother hands over her land.
A decade later, Birju relocates to Bombay’s Bhuleshwar once his mother passes away. Instead of getting a shop, he’s treated as a menial servant in the Pandey household (Chandershekhar, his two sons Ram and Shyam, and daughter Bindu), enduring abuse and no wages. His sole solace is Paro, the maidservant.
Birju buys a lottery ticket with prize money worth ₹2.5 lakh. Overnight, the family’s attitudes change—they spoil him with food, clothes, and attention. But when the ticket turns out to be a dud, he’s once again abused and cast out.
Eventually, a government official reveals that Birju’s ticket actually won the first prize of ₹5 lakh. The Pandeys scramble once more to gain favor, but Birju sees through their motives and escapes with Paro. In the end, he returns to his village and finds true happiness farming alongside his beloved Paro.
This is a poignant, introspective number where Asha Bhosle’s vocals convey a swirling mix of nostalgia, shame, and unresolved longing. The lyrics paint the emotional weight of unkept promises and unattained desires. The phrase “sharm ki hai baat” underscores the internal struggle of admitting these deep, vulnerable feelings— even to oneself.
