Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 37
The next song in the series is a rare haunting melody “Aa Devta Tu Apni” by Asha Bhosle. This song is from the suspense flick “Ab Kya Hoga” (1977). The song was written by Sawan Kumar Tak and composed by Usha Khanna.
The movie was produced and directed by Sawan Kumar Tak. It starred Shatrughan Sinha as Ram Sinha, Neetu Singh as Chitralekha, Asrani as Rajesh, Bindu, Moushumi Chatterjee (cameo), Ranjeet, Pinchoo Kapoor, Chand Usmani, Indrani Mukharjee, Jankidas, McMohan, etc
Our Mr. Sudhir Ji had posted the first song of this movie about 11 years ago. The song is Sare mehfil mera imaan beimaan ho gaya.
The Plot Summary is (SPOILER ALERT):
Ram Sinha meets Chitralekha on a train; she mysteriously disappears, leading him to encounter her multiple times in uncanny circumstances—making him suspect she might be a spirit or ghost.
Ram’s mother arranges his marriage to Chitralekha. Although the ceremony occurs, Ram refuses to accept her, convinced that she is inhuman or malevolent.
Chitralekha—or what appears to be her ghost—continues to haunt Ram, leading him into dangerous, life-threatening situations. He tries to escape with his friend Rajesh and Rajesh’s wife, but the apparition follows them anyway.
Ram is supposedly killed in a jeep accident. It’s revealed that Rajesh orchestrated a conspiracy to usurp Ram’s wealth, and that Chitralekha’s “ghostly” appearances were part of the ruse—she was an accomplice donning a mask to manipulate Ram’s perceptions.
In a dramatic twist, Ram resurfaces—he had staged his death with the assistance of the police and his doctor in order to expose and bring the conspirators to justice.
This song appears in a distinctly romantic and devotional context, lip synced by Neetu Singh in the film. It appears a couple of times in the movie. There is also a male version sung by Shailendra Singh.
