Today 19th October 2025 is the sixty-ninth birthday of actor Sunny Deol. He was born on 19th October 1957. He has been a director and producer of movies too and he was a Member of Parliament from 2019-2024.
On the occasion of birthday of Sunny Deol (real name Ajay Singh Deol), I am presenting a song from his debut film ‘Betaab-1983’. The song that I am presenting has been one of my favorite songs from those years and I like it very much. This song was my first choice for today’s presentation among many other songs that I had in my mind. The fact that it is a Pancham composition is another reason to bring it here today.
“Betaab-1983” was directed by Rahul Rawail for ‘Vijeta Films, Bombay’. Vikram Singh Dehal was the producer of this movie. It had debutant Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, with Shammi Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Nirupa Roy, Sundar, Rajiv Anand, Goga Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Tilak Mehta, Shabnam, Birbal, Jugnu, Rehana, Mahjabeen, Baby Gazala, Master Sonu, Gabbu, Narendra Singh, Seetaram Sharma, Kimti Anand, Joginder, Buzu and others. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.07.1983. I recall that I had watched this movie at Akola when I was studying in 11th Standard.
“Betaab-1983” has five songs composed by R.D. Burman. Lyrics for all the songs were written by Anand Bakshi. Lata Mangeshkar and Shabbir Kumar are singers for this movie. This movie has some good songs and the song ‘jab hum jawaan honge’ was the most popular song of this movie which stood at number four in the annual Binaca Geetmala List of that year 1983. Two songs from this movie have been presented by our dear Nahm jee and Peevesie’s Mom, with interesting posts, on the occasions of birthday of Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh respectively.
Today I am presenting a song sung by Shabbir Kumar and picturised on Sunny Deol. Amrita Singh is also present in the picturisation of this song. This song is shot at a beautiful outdoor location. It is a nice romantic song from the point of view of the hero and a teasing song from the point of view of the heroine who in such a situation would be seen expressing her disaapprovaal in no uncertain manner for much of the song. From the point of view of the audience, it was a a nice musical romantic song sung very well by Shabbir Kumar.
