WISHING ALL READERS A WONDERFUL AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026, FULL OF JOY, SUCCESS, PEACE, HOPE, ENERGY AND GOOD HEALTH.
As discussed in the last post, the compilation of Mukesh-Asha Bhosale duets has started. But it may take some time as it not only involves preparing a long table of 50+ rows, but also to ensure that no songs are left out and the list is complete. As this is work in progress, I thought I would squeeze in a couple of more posts in the meanwhile instead of taking a long hiatus.
Also, I would like to make the Asha Bhosale post memorable for a special occasion. For that we will cross the bridge when we reach it.
To give some background to today’s song, I take back readers to the two posts which I covered on Mukesh’s association with composer Khaiyyam.
Two posts dealt separately with the filmi and non-filmi songs of the duo.
They can be found in the links below.
So, 18 film songs and 10 NFS were the tally of the duo.
Over the last decade, I have covered some of the songs that were yet to be represented on the blog then.
For today’s post, I take up the remaining song from the unreleased film Hum Ek Hain.
The other song from the same unreleased film was represented when I covered the sole duet of Mukesh and Jagjit Kaur. It can be found in the link below.
Mukesh and his Co-Singers – 8.
Recently, one of the blog readers going by the identity “heroic72624e0499”, suggested the Mukesh solo in the comments sections and I take up the same in this post.
The song is “Kiski hai rachana yeh saari, kisne rang lagaya”. It is in praise of the creator of planet earth. Since, I have already covered Khaiyyam saab and Jagjit Kaur’s association in the past and the fact that this was an unreleased film, I cannot include it my series Mukesh and his Actors also.
As such this is a standalone post not fitting in any of the series but adds to the tally of Mukesh’s songs on the blog.
Coming to the song, I am reminded of a few Mukesh’s songs sung exclusively on nature, environment, cosmos etc.
Here is a what I can recollect now. Please note that the list is neither elaborate nor exhaustive.
I think I am missing one or two important songs of Mukesh in the list above. I request readers to add any song that they feel could fit in the list.
I once again wish all readers A very happy new year 2026 full of memorable melodies and wonderful memories.
The brilliant and vibrant colours of so many types of flowers, the magical combination of colours on a butterfly, the unknown message that various forces of nature try to convey, the empathy that animals try to shower on us, the vastness and mysteries of the cosmos, the synergy of the sun and the moon on earth, the unknown reason of our very existence on this planet etc.
These and various other aspects of life, material and matter in the universe cannot just be a case of happenstance. As we usher in the new year, let us be ever grateful for our existence, albeit a nano-second in the aeon of time and the vastness of space.
And as Mukesh rightly sings,
Kiski hai rachana ye saari
kisne rang lagaaya .

Song-Kiskee hai rachna ye saaree kisne rang lagaaya(Hum ek Hain)(UR)(1960) Singer-Mukesh, Jaan Nisaar Akhtar, Khayyam
Lyrics
Kiskee hai rachna ye saaree
kisne rang lagaaya aa
kaun hai wo jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
Kiskee hai rachna ye saaree
kisne rang lagaaya aa
kaun hai wo jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
neele nabh par usha niklee
sooraj kee le thhaalee
daudee jaaye door dhara par
ek sunahree laalee
parvat parvat kirnen jhoomen
maidaan mein hariyaalee
daalee daalee kaliyaan chatken
kaun hai inka maalee
kiskee ye sundar phulwaaree
kisne baagh khilaayaa aa
kaun hai wo jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
kheton par ek roop suhaana
utre shaam savere
sooraj apna tej lutaaye
chanda sheet bakhere
shabnam shabnam motee barse
taare daalen ghere
maatee kundan ban ke chamke
kaun ye tona phere
kaisee hai shobha ye nyaaree
kan kan kaun samaaya
kaun hai ye jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
baadal ke jab rathh mein baithhee
aaye varshaa raanee
nadiya nadiya amrit chhalke
jaise mast jawaanee
nehron nehron behta jaaye
sheetal sheetal paanee
kheton kheton faslen lehken
odhhe chaadar dhaanee
par jiskee ye leela matwaaree
uska bhed na paayaa aa
kaun hai ye jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
Kiskee hai rachna ye saaree
kisne rang lagaaya aa
kaun hai wo jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya
Kiskee hai rachna ye saaree
kisne rang lagaaya aa
kaun hai wo jisne dhartee ko
phoolon sang sajaaya

Beautiful song by Mukesh and beautifully written article (by the way heroic…was me, and I’ve changed it to Prakash now, my real name). May i suggest the following additional Mukesh songs praising Nature: 1) Gagan To Mast Chhe (with Asha Bhosle), 2) Khwabon ki Duniya, 3) Jannat Hai Dekhni, 4) Sun Chand Meri Dastan, 5) Phoolon se Rangeen Zammen Hai, 6) Gardish Mein ho Taare, 7) Neeli Neeli Ho Ghata (with Asha Bhosle), 8) Hum to Hai Chand Aur Taare, 9) Chand Ko Kya Maloom

Prakash ji,
What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for your comment and adding the songs.
However, I have tried not to include love/romantic/sad songs in which just reference is made to nature/celestial bodies for comparing the human emotion. there are in fact dozens of such Mukesh songs.
I am looking for exclusive songs like 1, 2 and 5 in the post. Even the others don’t fit to a T but are close enough.
