“Naya Sansaar”(1959) was produced by Darshan Malhotra and directed by Nanabhai Bhatt for Shri Krishna Films, Bombay. This “social” movie had Jayashree Gadkar, Pradeep Kumar, Nanda, Dhumal, Tuntun, Sundar, Shammi, Majnu, Sheila Vaz, Sai Subbulakshmi,Kamla Laxman etc in it.

Inspiration: They were inspired by a similar bamboo hoop exercise trend among children in Australia, which was brought to their attention by Joan Anderson.
Marketing Success: Wham-O trademarked the name “Hula Hoop,” leading to a massive craze, selling millions of the toys in the first few months as people enjoyed the fun, dance-like motion.
