As we can see from above table that out of the six songs five songs have already been posted earlier as above. Today I am presenting the sixth and final songs from this movie.
The song under discussion is a background song in the movie. It is a two-part song. Its first part gets played with the titles of the movie and the second part gets played in the end of the movie.
If one reads the lyrics of the first part of this song one can guess about the story of this movie. The lyrics of the today’s song define the philosophy of the story of this movie and sets tone for the movie with the titles itself.
“खुशी बाँटते हैं अपनी, ले के जो औरों के ग़म
वही बनाते हैं दुनिया को एक आनंद आश्रम …
सफल वही जीवन है , औरों के लिए जो अर्पण हैं
सफल वही जीवन है , औरों के लिए जो अर्पण हैं
So, now let us have the story of this movie in brief …
Deepak (Uttam Kumar) is a doctor and Aasha (Sharmila Tagore) is his childhood friend. Pratap Narayan Chaudhary (Ashok Kumar) is Deepak’s father and is a wealthy-upper class person having legacy of his forefather’s and very proud of his status, and prestige in the society. Deepak and Aasha fall in love. Aasha’s father has been a Teacher to Deepak. But since Aasha’s father has converted and following other religion, Pratap Narayan Chaudhary dislikes them and rejects Deepak’s love for Aasha. Deepak marries Aasha against his father’s wishes and thus Pratap Narayan Chaudhary and Deepak had a confrontation following which Deepak leaves his father and his inheritance from his father’s wealth and property. Deepak wants to help underprivileged people and serve the humanity. So he sets out for his journey with Aasha for a new life.
On their way Deepak meets a good hearted wealthy person Rasiklal (Utpal Dutt) who has an inherited business, but also wants to serve the humanity so that he is remembered by people in the society and also finds a place in the ‘good books’ of god. He helps Deepak to open up and run a hospital in his village where Aasha helps Deepak in nursing people.
Unfortunately, later, When Aasha is pregnant and about to deliver a child Deepak has to attend another woman’s delivery in the village where the lady is in critical stage. Deepak is able to save this woman and her child who showed no signs of life immediately after birth. Meanwhile Aasha is critical and before Deepak could reach to her, she had delivered a child and died during the process. Deepak comes to normal attending his duties and also taking care of the child which is difficult for him. Deepak gets built a ‘samaadhee’ of Asha near to his place and every day he spends time remembering her.
One day it so happens that the family servant Giridhari Kaka (Asit Sen) visits Deepak while coming back from Baba Taaraknath. He already has come to know about Aasha’s passing away and knows the situation Deepak is passing through. He requests Deepak to handover the child to him and he will take care of him. Deepak handovers him the child but only on the condition that he (Giridhari Kaka) will not tell anybody at home that it is Deepak’s child. Giridhari brings the child to home and tells Pratap Narayan Chaudhary (Ashok Kumar) that he had found the child on the bank of the rivers where somebody might have left him and he has found a letter tied with a thread with the child. He asks Pratap Narayan to help to read this note which mentions that the child is from a ‘higher caste family’. Giridhari somehow convinces Pratap Narayan to allow this child to grow at their place only which Pratap Narayan agrees and gradually accepts the child and starts loving him. This child grows up, and goes abroad and also becomes a doctor – Dr Prakash (i.e. actor Rakesh Roshan). His love interest is Kiran who on screen is played by Moushumi Chatterjee. Kiran happens to be the daughter of Rasiklal and Chandramukhi (Utpal Dutt & Anita Guha). Now Deepak expects his son to serve the humanity and took care of the poor and downtrodden people in the society who are living around in small villages where the healthcare services are not available and out of reach of the poor. So, when Deepak comes to know that Prakash has taken a job somewhere else, he straight away goes to him and advises him …देखो बेटा डाक्टरों के जीवन का आदर्श सिर्फ पैसे कमाना नहीं , उन्हें गरीबों और बिमारों की सेवा करनी चाहिए ,
(लेकिन आप कहना क्या चाहते हैं … Because Prakash is a not aware that Deepak is his father and he is surprised why a stranger is talking to him like this)Deepak continues further …
(Prakash asks him?)
Without letting Prakash know about his relationship with Deepak, Deepak successfully persuades him to visit the village and Deepak’s hospital. Incidentally after Prakash visits Deepak at Kiran’s place they fall in love. Meanwhile seeing the condition of the poor people in the villages Prakash promises Deepak that he will after finishing his ‘bond’ with the employer return to him and serve the people there.
Another twist in the story comes when Prakash informs his grandfather Pratap Narayan Chaudhary about Kiran and his wish to marry her. However Pratap Narayan Chaudhary again rejects his proposal like he did for his father, because of caste-conflict. However, when Prakash and Kiran’s marriage formalities are in process Pratap Narayan reaches them and blesses both of them. Finally, Giridhari also persuade Deepak to come to home for the marriage celebrations which he agrees reluctantly. It is there that when Deepak tries to leave the celebrations mid-way that Giridhari Kaka holds him and finally the son and father meet after a long time. Pratap Narayan Chaudhary apologises to his son. Realising his mistake now Pratap Narayan Chaudhary wishes to apologies his daughter in law. And he asks Deepak about Asha (his daughter in law). Deepak takes his father to Asha’s ‘samaadhee’ where all the family and extended family members accompany them. It is there that the second part of this song gets played in the background.
This is a nice movie to watch and the high point of the movie is its story and performances by all the actors. Also the emotional scene between Ashok Kumar-Uttam Kumar, Ashok Kumar-Asit Sen, Asit Sen-Uttam Kumar, and Uttam Kumar and Utpal Dutt brings tears. They deliver heart-warming performances. The story of this movie is its backbone and its’ message is still relevant.
The music of this movie is good. The songs of the movie are good hummable songs.
With this sixth and final song, “Anand Aashram” gets YIPPEED in the blog!!!
