I have listened to this song quite a few times on Radio Ceylon’s a few minutes before 8 AM, but I must admit that I never paid any attention to the lyrics of this ( or any other ) K L Saigal song.

Here is another evergreen K L Saigal classic. This song is from a 1939 movie called “Dushman”. When I first heard the Radio Ceylon announcement that the song was from “Dushman” , I half expected a song from Rajesh Khanna’s “Dushman” (1971) and was mightily disappointed.

Till 1970s, Radio Ceylon Hindi service had “Puraani filmon ke geet” programme from 7-30 to 8 AM every day. The last song of the programme was invariably a K L Saigal song.
