The song is written by Pandit Narendra Sharma and is set to music by Rajkamal. The song is picturised on Varsha Usgaonkar in the role of Uttara while her music and dance teacher is Arjun (Feroz Khan) who has disguised himself as Brihannala, the eunuch. The song is based on Raag Bhimpalashi, the same Raag on which the song, beena madhur madhur kachhu bol from the film, ‘Ram Rajya’ (1943) was composed.

Our Blog has achieved a substantial milestone of completing 20000 posts with Sudhir ji’s post on a rare song, gham kaa banoge nishaana. When I had joined the bandwagon sometime in July 2011, the Blog had just completed 4000 songs in about 3 years. At that time, I had never imagined that the Blog would attain even a milestone of 10000 articles because it would have been a long haul during which the interest of the owner of the Blog (Atul ji) and the guest writers may wane because they may have to prioritise other important commitments. In the event, I have been proved wrong. Over the period of time, not only Atul ji has been keeping his interest in the Blog intact, but more guest writers have also joined the bandwagon making Atul ji’s posts appearing more as a ‘guest’ post while some of the guest writers have turned regular contributors on a voluntary basis. Furthermore, there is a phenomenal increase to the visitors of the Blog which is currently in the threshold of crossing 18 million in 18 years, that is, an average of one million a year.

TV serial Song number 1:
‘Mahabharat’ (1988), the TV Serial produced by B R Chopra and directed by Ravi Chopra was telecast on Doordarshan in 94 episodes from October 2, 1988, to June 24, 1990. The screenplay and dialogues were written by Rahi Masoom Raza. There were 20 main actors and about 60 actors in supporting roles apart from some actors appearing specifically for one or two episodes.
The episodes were telecast every Sunday and I have watched almost all the episodes when these were telecast. Those who have watched the episodes would recall that each episode used to start with the title song, ‘ath shree Mahabharat kathha’ and to end with a theme song of each episode which were rendered by Mahendra Kapoor. But there were many other songs in some episodes which I have almost forgotten except a few, that too, only the context and not the songs. Fortunately, Wikipedia has listed the songs of TV Serial, Mahabharat (1988) numbering 22 songs (including the title song) rendered by eight playback singers which include Mahendra Kapoor, Rajkamal, Anuradha Paudwal, Sadhana Sargam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Nitin Mukesh, Suresh Wadkar and Roopa Ganguly. The songs were written by Pandit Narendra Sharma apart from songs with traditional lyrics. All the songs were set to music by Rajkamal.

The years 1980s and 90s were the golden period of TV serials which used to be telecast on National Doordarshan Channel. The TV Serials of these period might have been lacking in technical specs as compared with that of the current TV serials. But what made these Doordarshan serials very popular was that they were mostly based on down to earth story lines, the good directions, the good performances of the lead and supporting actors and above all the absence of the present TRP dominated TV industry. These factors have made the TV serials of yore unforgettable for most of the the viewers including me. And the proof is that most of these serials had repeat telecasts on a number of times keeping in view the response from the viewers.
