“Baarish”(1957) was produced by K H Kapadiya and directed by Shankar Mukherji for Alankar Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Dev Anand, Nutan, Lalita Pawar, Helen, Anwar Hussan, Nana Palsikar, Jagdish Sethi, Mehmood, Kumkum, Gope, Madan Puri, Kumud Tripathi etc in it.

Hullo to all atulwaasis
A few days back our NAHMJI sent a mail on our email chain about a song she was looking for. As is our normal practice she had looked up for it first on our blog (I presume as that is also my method). Then she put out a look out notice for our diggaz to help her and the most unthinkable happened. Our guruji actually put up his hand to say he was sorry he could not help. But one thing is certain in atuldom, someone or other will come up to answer the question. This time it was Sadanandji. Kamathsaab thank you.

Today is the Death Anniversary of DEV ANAND.
He was one of those who can never be forgotten. He was the most handsome of the three great heroes of India, Raj, Dilip and Dev. Raj and Dilip grew old, did grandpa’s roles and we digested them. But even the thought of seeing Dev Anand as an old Grandfather was highly disturbing. He forever, remained the evergreen chocolate Hero for people of his generation.

One of the category of songs that are found quite commonly in Hindi movies is what I call “Chhaayaageet” songs. These are romantic songs where words like “chaand”, “raat etc. are used quite generously. Here is a nice comedy song from a movie called “Baarish”. The song may be a comedy song, but it is a philosophical song too. This song was written by Rajinder Krishan, whereas C Ramchandra is the singer as well as the music director.
