Hullo to all atulwaasis
A few days back our NAHMJI sent a mail on our email chain about a song she was looking for. As is our normal practice she had looked up for it first on our blog (I presume as that is also my method). Then she put out a look out notice for our diggaz to help her and the most unthinkable happened. Our guruji actually put up his hand to say he was sorry he could not help. But one thing is certain in atuldom, someone or other will come up to answer the question. This time it was Sadanandji. Kamathsaab thank you.
Now what happened was Kamathsaab had provided a link with the reply on the email chain. I clicked on it. The song started playing and my dad’s face lit up with “arre this is Johnny Walker”. Then he showed interest to see a few more videos on YouTube. One of his requests was for a song from “Baarish” (1957). The song was a duet by Chitalkar and Lata Mangeshkar. Written by Rajinder Krishan. Music was by C.Ramchander. There is also a C Ramchandra solo version of it.
As mentioned in my last post I am still in mai desh. So I was relating to my dad about my visit to guruji, how he functions and also HFGK. I told him that guruji and he has similar tastes. DAD also said that he used to purchase song booklets for one rupee for all the movies he had seen. And that he had a collection of around 300 booklets. Unfortunately he doesn’t know what became of them when his parents left their old home in Ahmadabad to relocate to Mumbai. That is when the RIK RIK TI TIK song started on tv. And dad gave me the gist of the movie, viz. It was Sheikh Mukhtar production. Directed by one Tara Harish. And the cast was Raj Kapoor Madhubala etc. Then he mentioned that the movie had a song on Worli Naka.
Here is this song from “Baarish”(1957) as per my dad’s farmaish. The song is picturised on Nutan and Dev Anand.

kehte hain pyaar kisko
panchhi zara bata de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejubaan sikha de ae
o bejubaan sikha de
kehte hain pyaar kisko
panchhi zara bata de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejubaan sikha de ae
o bejubaan sikha de
mushkil hai iss jahaan mein
aazaadiyon se rehna
mushkil hai iss jahaan mein
aazaadiyon se rehna
jo baat dil mein aaye ae
usko jubaan se kehna
jo baat dil mein aaye ae
usko jubaan se kehna
aazaad tu hai jaisa
waisa hamen bana de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejubaan sikha de ae
o bejubaan sikha de
kehte hain pyaar kisko
panchhi zara bata de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejubaan sikha de ae
o bejubaan sikha de
nafrat ki waadiyon se (aa aa aa )
ho door ik basera (aa aa aa )
shaam ho jahaan suhaani (aa aa aa )
rangeen ho sawera (aa aa aa )
nafrat ki wadiyon se
ho door ik basera (aa aa aa)
shaam ho jahaan suhaani
rangeen ho sawera(aa aa aa)
woh kaun si hai duniya rasta jara dikha de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejuban sikha de
o bejuban sikha de
kehte hain pyaar kisko
panchhi zara bata de
udna khuli hawa mein
o bejubaan sikha de ae
o bejubaan sikha de

Hullo nitin bhai
S my dad was talking of songs of do ustaad bcoz they were playing at that point on TV. He also spoke of the worli ka naka song. But I found through email exchange with atul that it was covered. In the mean time nahmji started another search. When I asked him for help he could not remember offhand. But with sadanandji’s link he recollected that song also. Then one thing led to another and I reached this one!😊
And here guruji comes in bcoz when I met him I realised there is similarity in their tastes. Actually I had thought if my dad had been in better health my Sunday visit to guruji would have been an out of the world experience for me- dono ko aamne saamne bitha deti😀

Peevesie’s Mom,
The song tune is the same as ‘O raat ke musaafir chanda zara bataa de’ . I heard and saw for the first time.
Yes, I had tried the blog first with the words in the clip. And than I looked on youtube and myswar.com too with different lines. When all failed to find the song, I had to send the mail to find. Plus I thought must not be posted yet. But it turned out to be a covered song without the prelude which was in that clip. So I was drawing a blank in the blog.
I have sent another song post for the series with Rafi-Johnny Walker combination, which is not posted. Hopefully it should appear soon.

It actually feels nice to know that you have so many aliases like Jabbar Singh Rashtramukh Moochhwaala and now Guruji……
