“Daroga jee” (1949) was a one woman show all the way. This movie, produced by Nargis Arts (Nargis’ home production) was meant to show Nargis’ ability to sing all kinds of songs. So far as many as seven songs picturised on Nargis have been discussed in this blog, in which she was shown singing romantic song, broken heart song, bullying shopkeepers song, etc etc.

“Daroga Ji” (1949) was produced by Nargis Arts, the home production of Nargis and the movie was meant to promote the then nascent acting career of Nargis. The songs (almost all of them female solo songs picturised on Nargis) were meant to showcase Nargis’ acting talent in different moods.

By now I am coming round to the view that obscure B grade movies could well outnumber the well known A grade movies as far as old Hindi movies are concerned. Music of such movies could well turn out to be a treasure trove that has not yet been fully discovered. I continue to find one gem after another when I look for songs from such forgotten movies.

Has anyone heard of a Hindi movie by the name “Black Tiger” (1960) ? I certainly had not. But just because I had not heard about it does not mean that this movie did not exist. This movie was very much in existence and it was a quintessential B grade movie. It was produced by an imaginatively named production house called Highway Pictures. The movie was directed by the legendary director of such movies, namely Akkoo. The “star cast” of this movie includes such B grade superstars as Nazma, Azad, Nadira, Habib, Sheikh etc.

“Gareebi” (1949) is a movie about which very little information is available on internet. Fortunately, we have our own encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, who was not only around when these movies were released, but on many cases he even watched such movies and took notes.

“Husn Ka Chor” (1953) is not a movie that too many people have heard of. It was a quintessential B grade movie. Information about such movies are conspicuous by their absence on internet.
