Here comes the song no. 9 of the series, which is the oldest song so far. I am actually indebted to Sudhir Kapoor Sir, for suggesting this song for the series. This was not available on youtube. Sir was kind enough to upload the song and he also provided the lyrics both in English and Hindi script.

“Din Raat” (1945) was directed by Shorey (was it Roop K Shorey ?)for Navyug Productions. It had Sulochana Chatterji, Paresh Bannerji etc in it.

Thirty seven years to date. The life and the world has moved on, as it always does. It is the everyday drudgery and the process of existence, that makes life continue with what it is. But it is the memories of the sounds of dear ones that make life beautiful, and livable. Memories, that are frozen in time, for they are past and will never be alive and here again today. And yet, these memories live, in the minds, in remembrances, and in the sounds captured in technology. Ah yes, it is these sounds that make is possible to exist, with the drudgery of everyday existence.

If one makes an analysis of the songs based on their chronological age, one may find that majority of songs discussed in this blog are from the decades of 1950s and 1960s, with the number of songs tapering off drastically as one goes to the earlier as well as later decades. This follows the normal distribution curve (also known as bell shaped curve) as they say in statistics 🙂 .

As long back as 1939, there was a fun movie called “Brandy Ki Bottle” . In this movie, a man (Master Vinayak) is asked by his boss to bring a bottle of Brandy to cure the illness of his boss’ kid. This man is not aware what is Brandy, and that leads to hilarious scenes throughout the movie.
